View Full Version : Installing vf700-Cu on my new 6800GT

ok so im gunna be installing a Zalman vf700-Cu on my new 6800gt and i was wondering f i should use the ram sinks or just keep the huge black all in one ram sink thingy on...and if i should use the ram sinks ..how the hell do i get that big black thing off .. pic below

i'd keep 'the big black thing' on, more metal = more surface area = more cooling, plus it should get a nice airflow from the zalman :)

if it works with the zalman, leave it as is
otherwise use the ramsinks that came with the zalman

it should have some spring loaded screws from the backside of the card

but K agree with the others, leave it on and get additional AWESMOE\o/™ cooling from the zalman fan =D

Yeah, id just leave it on if it fits with the new cooler.

ok kewl cuz with stock cooling it is sitting at 60c ..seems hot to me ..i just upgraded from a 6600GT that ran 47c on stock cooling ..so it seems weird to me ...i think maybe the DFI chipset is heating it up ..... donno tho ..so hopefully putting the new cooler on will help ..it should be here monday

stock coolers have a tendancy to make crappy contact on some and decent on others.
