Help!! P4EE 3.73es , P4 660es cannot exceed 300fsb with Rad WaterCooling......

bought 2 new toys
1. P4EE 3.73ES
2. P4 660ES
tested for 2days, but...... disappointed :(
a. P4EE 3.73ES 300*14 can enter winxp & c the cpuz, but ... if i run superpi_1m... the sys crash down. and the same situation on another P4EE 3.73ES ( I got 2 :p: ).
I tried 295fsb, 295*14 and add v_core=1.45v ( deafult=1.4v ), still cannot pass pi_1m...... damn !!
no matter how hard I tried , 3xx fsb cannot even boot up the screen :slobber:
b. P4 660ES 300*14 cannot boot up system, 285fsb do not stable ( cannot pass dual prime95 run at same time )

my mobo=Abit Fatal1y AA8XE , my P4 570J Retail can work extremmly stable @ 300*14 with Air Cooling ( TT 112 + 9025 2000rpm *2 )
stable means: pass Dual Prime95 run at same time for 8hours+
PCIE=100mhz, PCI=33mhz, All voltage = deafult,
Ram dual 4-4-4-12 1:1 @ 300mhz , infineon ddr2 667 (2.0v 300mhz 3-3-3-8 stable)
my coolingsystem= DIY Water Cooling System, 12*24cm RAD + 2100rpm 1225fan*2 ( the system can let 4.4G P4J full load < 45degrees , water temp=20degrees)

so , exclude the mobo/ram/heat problems. then, the "ES" cpu cannot run high fsb with normal cooling? 'casue my " P4 570J Retail " can easily run 300fsb and stable fur 24*7 use. but cannot exceed 1mhz further :(

I've seen to0 many XS ocer got P4 660es/P4EE 3.73es @ 3xx--4xx fsb, but all of them use phase-change or LN2 or PC Ice.
so, the Question is :
Does all the "ES" cpu with 2M_L2_Cache cannot run 300fsb with normal cooling? What's the problem?

I think you said it yourself, pretty good OC on water. It's only room temp water at best. It's gonna take colder cooling solution and other mods. Sounds like you've just reached the limit.

seems u do not notice this :

same water cooling ,same water temp, same hardware except the CPU, and the most conservative parameter setting......but:
1.P4 570J Retail can run stable @ 300*14 for 24*7 use ( pass Dual prime95 for 8hours)
2.P4 660ES/P4EE 3.73ES cannot run 300*14 and pass any test.
3.CPU limit = 4.2G ? of course not.
P4 660ES I've test 238*18=4.3G 1.475v pass Prime95

I've thought for long time and guess that :
1. ES CPU cannot run stable at 28x~300fsb with Normal Cooling
2. 2M L2 Cache made 660ES/3.73EE cannot run high fsb with Normal Cooling

And sth I have to say is :
1. My Friend's P4 570ES can run 300*14 stable with normal rad water cooling
2. My Freind's P4EE 3.73 Retail can easily goes to 320fsb on ASUS P5AD2-E Deluxe with TT Mini Tower+8025 3000rpm fan*2

so......what's the matter ? I'm confused !

i had the same problem with my 660 and my abit as8. When i put the cpu under my phase change the problem dissappeard...

according to ur situation... seems that 2M L2 Cache is really a problem

1.45v v_cup
1.65v v_chip
pcie=101mhz
but do not work still.

in fact , do not need to add any voltage, cause my 570J can stable @ 300fsb with all deafult settings

i also think that the cpu is your problem, not the mainboard... especially since you can run 300fsb just fine with the other cpu. what date are you engineering sample chips from? engineering samples are often very early chips and therefor dont overclock that well... it wouldnt be the first ES chip ive seen that doesnt oc very well...

it might also be the bios of your board... have you tried different bios files?

since you seem to have enough money may i suggest you go phase change? :D
ask chilly1, im sure he can build you a kick4ss cascade! :hrhr:

I dream about his 3-stage cascade monster, but...... I'm in P.R.China, so...too far away for the transportation. To debugging the monster is also a big problem , I'm a newbie of Phase-Change Cooling. :(
I use Rad WaterCoolingSystem , if I wanna c the XS frequency , I'd rather use LN2 or PC Ice , -152 degrees LN2, so cool ! :p:
Diff editions of bios , I haven't tried yet , I think it's the ES 2M_L2_Cache cpu's problem since the Retail P4EE/5XX/6XX cpu i tried can run on 300fsb well enough.

i've tried 4-4-4-12 ,1:1 @ 295fsb but still not work well on pi calculating... :(
