the stock cooler does it's job, but dayamn is it whiney - it's pretty much the only thing to be heard in this PC now =/
the only problem is, the GFX card sits right above the NB cooler (pictures to follow if K's DSC will macro in close enough without blurring)
has anybody else swapped their MSI NB cooler, or has anyone heard of someone doing it?
ideas, suggestions, encouragement to construct some ghetto mod welcomed =D

Try the Vantec Copper cooler or Vantec Iceburq 4.

Try the Vantec Copper cooler or Vantec Iceburq 4.
Are you certain the vantec iceberq4 fits in the neo2, with the agp lever so close to the NB chipset?

I have Zalman NB-32J with shortened pins (app. 1 cm off) with system fan blowing over it.
Cheap and effective solution.

Set the nb fan to slow down (either via certain modded bioses) or using speedfan.

good thunking batman =]
erm, it wont overheat at lower revs though?
rather be safe than sorry
*edit* ok so speedfan is running and reducing speed by just 20% has made it silent =]
thanks everyone =D

I'm really sorry for my late response. I was very bussy last two days.

that looks very nicely done Moonman =]
do you have a case fan or something blowing across it, or is that an open case/bench setup?
also - is it possible to get Speedfan to remember the NB fanspeed on PC startup or does it have to be done manually each time?

For 24/7 use I have a case fan blowing acros it.
When I bench it's an open case setup with 80mm fan blowing across it.
This week I'll try with a waterblock to see if I can gain some Mhz :)
in MSI k8n NEO2 the nf3 chip have pratically no thermal paste and the cooler is pretty bad..so that i have replaced it width a one made by me.

how much did that lower your temps by SvL?
the motherboard thermal sensor isnt located in Nforce3 chip , so that i cant answer at your question but you may imagine the differences.
