Can 108mbps be fully funcional in the following scenario:

3 PC'S with the netgear wg311t 108mbps pci card

connected to

1 D-LINK DGL-4300 108mbps router.

I heard Netgear and Dlink use similar atheros wireless super g implementation but I haven't tried the D-link hardware yet with my netgear cards. would like to though if 108mbps worked.

It should work, they both use a mixture of 802.11A and 802.11b to achieve 108mbps.

But wouldn't the difference in brand be automatically detected by either the network card or router and therefore limit the connection to a dynamic 54mbps.

I have no idea what the hell you just said...

Mixing 108mbps products (clients and AP's/Routers) is not really a problem. As you said they use the same chip and therefore will be even more compatible. Sometimes different brands have problems but most of the time everything works just fine.

Avoid linksys products like the plague ;) Thats my $0.02 worth. If you still havent got the router, get the Netgear 108mbps one, inexpensive and Netgear makes the best networking products around. I have not had bad experience with D-Link but they don't make the best.

netgear rox0rs!
