Excellent top quality work as always!! Great job Chilly1. :toast:

Also nice to see a little bit of your work area. I like the wet rag idea on the vice.

What kind of torch and rods do you use?

Wow very nice craftsmenship

how long did that take you?

Actual time spent on this system is around 90 hours or so. Includes a couple redos on the small system. I have been working on it since December. THe material for teh mod was hard to get and I needed to figure out the GPU config and condenser sizing.

Stoked is definitely the best word to describe how I feel. I've been patiently waiting for this for a very long time and the excitement within me can not be contained for too much longer. It's right up there with the feeling of buying a new car + winning an auction on a brand new pair of Nikes that you wore in the 9th grade + finally hooking up with the girl that your homies have been scoping out at the club for the last month --- all on the same day. Yes. The feeling is that good. :D

Don't you make very much hour?

chilly is talking about granite flate surface plates, they are used in manufacturing and machining when a very flat referance surface is needed. they come in different sizes and tickness, along with degrees of flatness. you may see one advertised like this : 12"x 18" x 4" thick with a overall flatness held to within.00002" and paralell edgess held to within .00004". they are cut from granite to prevent warping, I've seen one 12 inces thick that weigh many tons. so if you are going to buy one on ebay, best to get a shipping quote first :D :D :D

The feeling definitely comes with the case. The actual car, shoes, and girl...well, we'd have to go out and get those on our own. ;) I'm looking forward to my next feeling when I pick up a chilly1 LN2 container - maybe two. :slobber:

http://www.blairwing.com/images/polished.jpg

EDIT: Reggie - Were you able to test with a simulated load? If not, that's fine. -45.1C and -32.3C unloaded are perfectly fine for my gaming system. :D

A few more questions came to mind, Reggie:

- Does each phase change unit have a dedicated power switch/supply, or are they shared?
- Are the temperature probes permanently fixated onto the blocks, or do I have to play it safe so they won't come loose?
- What type of cooling fans were implemented? CFM? dBA? I'm scared of my wife yelling at me.

Thanks. :D

As always, excellent work Chilly :D

Perhaps not. But the sound of a traditional Filipino wooden slipper violently making contact with the side of my head is a sound that will surely echo within my skull.

Make money??? You serious? I only wish> Originally I started out thinking that I would make a little for my time. I have teh EVAPs done on a cnc machine they cut about 3 per hour the cut is complicated as it is deeper than it is wide. and kinda cuts in at a funny angle.

Well the system is about as loud as two refrigerators. I wish it were quiter. THe fans are CFM rated at 80 cfm each for the top condenser and 130cfm for teh bottom cooler. The top compressor is quiet but the bottom one is a little louder, as wilh all compressors ist is hit or miss for niose. I would not run this in a room where someone was sleeping.

Reggie - I'll try to coax her into wearing fluffy bunny slippers on Saturday. It shouldn't hurt too much.

Michal - Correction, sir. I did have a couple of Ultra-D boards and a 6600 that I overclocked in February. But considering how fast things move in this hobby, I agree that it has been ages. ;) Once the baby's out, I'll consider myself blessed if I can overclock something once a year.

That is a work of art chilly1!
Whether or not you are making money now... you are definately getting more respect with every new creation, and when it's said and done at least you'll have pictures of these badboys to keep you sane when the men in black suits come to collect your home, car, and shirt off your back... it's only money..... hehe

Conrad,
Sheet you never told me you had a version 2.0 on the way... double congratulations are in order bro!
Really, good for you! (there really needs to be a congratulatory hand-shake/man-hug smily icon)

Can't wait to see that Newark/X850/VX/chilly1 combo take over the world!

Seeing a 754 in the ORB top 10 would make the wait until next upgrade easier to justify too... ;)

Ah, that's nothing compared to the traditional American cast-iron skillet :p:

BTW... if your wife can lift that unit by herself and do the transfer, Chilly's gonna be in a heep-o-trouble once you've turned it on

I met up with chilly1 and FUGGER about 5 hours ago. Very cool gentlemen, by the way. Anyway, they plugged the unit in before we loaded it into my car. This thing is far from loud. It does, however, weigh a ton.

Reggie - I don't know how you got that thing in the back of my Bimmer, but I had an impossible time taking it out. Pulling heavy coolers out of a car + my back back = I need to pop a pain killer and knock out for a few hours. On a happier note, it was a pleasure finally meeting you guys. :D

So Conrad...

Now 40k 3DM01, 17k 3DM03 and 8k 3DM05 plus some 22minish in SuperPI 32M and 25sish in 1M are your starting points :D

Good luck with your bad a$$ setup...

Man, Michal. Those are some pretty high targets considering I've been out of the game for a while. And don't worry...I'll be sure to do include a SuperPI 32M run just for you. ;)

As soon as I'm done testing with these coolers, we'll see how much deeper into the zone LN2 is going to take me. I made it pretty obvious to Reggie that I'll be ordering two containers with my next paycheck. I think we talked more about LN2 than we did about the phase change units. :D

Good times comin' up this summer. :woot:

It looks like there are going to be some more delays (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?p=874770#post874770), as if having to return an X850 XTPE that was dead on arrival wasn't good enough. I just love when this stuff happens. :(
