I have been tweaking for a couple of weeks to attain this and hear it is! Im running a DFI 250gb with the latest beta bios with a 3400+ newcastle cbazc on a custom single stage phase change cooler made by Herefishy. This should be the highest overclock for a 3400+ newcastle on the vr-zone oc database, but I am not sure if it is a wr. I just submitted it to vr-zone, but it has not been posted on the website yet. I am assuming they have to validate the entry first. I am quite excited since this is my first, what I would consider Xtreme oc.
Special thanks to everyone at XS who taught me when I was a noob, and extra special thanks to Herefishy for this great Phase change cooler! :D

Very nice speeds for that chip m8 :toast:

Congrats, nice overclock you've got there, can you run any benches? Like SuperPi 1M?

I can't run any benches at this speed, but I can run some if i tune it down to 3.1-3.2ghz. I have worked on benching much, because Im stuck with kingston value ram right now. When I get some new ram I will try to post some bench results.

Nice clock. How old is that chip? I haven't seen a 2.4GHz 3400+ for sale in a while..
Now some questions... (not many, if any):
#1 - Do you know what it does on air?
#2 - What voltage did you use for this oc?
Again, congrats on the oc, keeps us guys on the 754 some more dreamtime.

First of all, thanks for all the congrats guys!
#1: This chip did about 2.7ghz with a hyper 6 and one led 80mm fan, but I didnt tweak as much on air as I did on phase.
#2: I was using 1.96v for this oc and would have pushed it further but more volts made it less stable. I know that sounds like alot, but most people under estimate the amount of volts chips can take for just short runs.
I bought this chip sometime last year, I dont remember exactly when but I think early fall.
With the winnies having the cold bug and some of the bugs in these early venice and san diego cores socket 754 is still pretty good for cheaper cpu overclocks.

Nice clocks on that chip. :toast: Now push it just a bit more. Here's the highest listed here:
3420 (http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=12416)

Cheers for the quick reply Jrocket.
Socket 754 surely is alive and well.
You don't happen to have the date of manufacture do you?

Yeah, I remember when they set that. That was the socket 754 WR before it was beaten by another member that obtained 3.409ghz. I was chasing the 3.32ghz for awhile in order to get the socket 754 WR, but wasnt able to get there in time. Dont worry though, Im pretty sure I can tweak a little more out of this chip to take down eshbach and spork. I have already been tweaking for nearly a month though. I would push it more tonight, but I am still a student and need to study.
and to szukalski
I will take a look at the spreader tomorrow and give you the stepping which will at least give you the week number.

Staring that WR down the barrel.
Be great to have a 3400+ @ 3400!!

Thank you very much everyone! I am having trouble getting higher than 3.345ghz, but I feel as though there is a little bit more in this chip. My motherboard is actually having trouble giving me more HTT, I think that might be holding me back more than the chip. I have already tried a bunch of different bioses and tweaked them to high heaven and gotten my phase change down 13 degrees colder than when I started. So it would be hard for me to beat the s754 WR but that was my intention from the start, and Im going to make sure I give Epsilon a run for his money. I am already quite happy though, this should be the WR for a 3400+ right? Anyways, I am done for the night but I will continue the fight throughout this week.
To Szukalski: I took the heatspreader off awhile ago and I am having trouble finding it lol. Anyways, I will keep looking and try to give you the stepping with week soon.
