How rare is a -45c single stage setup, assuming 220w load?

not too common. 220w is a pretty high load for a single stage

What's the average load?

Aren't these new P4's like 200w+ load just on stock?

EDIT

Average SD/Venice High OC load.

P4 540j @4800 1.635v dosnt even put out 180w. Evap temp after 8M superpi was -41 on a modded prommy(the highest it was during that run was -36 but it started to drop after a while). Temps measured with a K-type probe at the side of the evap.

ahhh good to know, I think I am confusing heat with power consumption :/

TY for the info.

Just put ya a good compressor on the unit, and you'll be golden

I think its fair to say that power consumption = thermal output on a CPU.

hmmm 220W is rather high but i don't know any single stage on stock getting this....maybe except mach II GT...
u have one or you want one? my modded Mach I is doing ~-55°C unload i don't think it's getting -45°C ~(real!) @220W

definately Achieveable with a big compressor and some r507.

I hit -41c with my Promkiller (http://www.teampuss.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=605) with:
1/2HP 14cc compressor
Propane
180w load

With R507 you will gain 4c and with a bigger compressor (rotary) you could definately get -45c loaded. THis is on the suction line, not on the block ofcourse

BTW a mach2 GT only does -30c with 200w load (specs from ECT itself)

well i talked about buyable compressorcoolers, and sorry yeah i forgot...so i'm right if saying no "buyable" compressorcooling system like vapo or mach will get this?!

these days everyone makes promy killers.
well even with smaller crapy old fridge compressors
i think what urbanfox is saying is true though.
-45c at a real load max overclock with todays compressors pushing 200w is difficult
and with 1/3Hp and 1/2Hp ya really pushing the limit to get -45c at a true load.
even with a bigger compressor they arnt as easy ppl think.
i cant wait to put my coolers to there limits with new hardware.

Well inadvertantly my dad has finally become interested in helping build a unit with me, so hopefully by mid summer were going to be putting something together.

That's what I was assuming and I was getting my info from this page:

http://anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2353&p=4

I must not be understanding it right though, because everyone is saying 220w is really high :/

220w is very high indeed

But if you run a FX55 @ 3.6ghz and 1.90v, then you are very close :)

allright my first load tests with my modded prommi told me -35°C display temp...cold ice, who repaired it told me the sensor is showing 10°C too much (he measured it with a voltcraft -0°C in icewater) so my load temp of a 3500+ 1.55V idle is ~-45°C.
so like i thought - not that common.
