I can't believe my eyes or are those faked results or sth?

Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 would perform as good as the Zalman CNPS-7700-CU, that's almost unbelievable considering Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 is almost dead silent at any speed, weights like almost half of the Zalman cooler and is like half of the price too compared the Zalman cooler. :D

I agree it isn't the most sexy looking cpu fan on market but hey, it seems to do an excellent job for it's price. However I want a cheap cooling solution as possible for my new comp but yet powerful enough to handle San Diego 3700+ @2.7GHz so that the load temps would stay below about ~55C on a DFI nF4 SLI-DR mobo and beautiful and good air flow case Thermaltake Armor. What do you think?

looks a bit like the hyper6 but smaller.... well those heat pipes are efficient when they are aiming upwars (xp90-120).. u know, evaporation and presipitaion..

I would just get the XP-90.

Yes but this Arctic Freezer 64 is so cheap... £22.27 incl VAT on overclockers.co.uk and it's almost dead silent. And neither do I know what fan I'd choose for the XP-90C, would also have to be from overclockers.co.uk and I didn't see that many good 92mm fans there.

I have been searching reviews for a dude here in sweden what cooler he should buy.
Never seen this cooler before but it seems to perform VERY good in all reviews.
And cheap!

No need to get the XP-90C, just get the XP-90 with a Panaflo 92mm fan.

Well I dunno if I want to order from a 3rd site only to get a Panaflo 92mm fan, there's 2 sites I will order from and neither of em got any decent 92mm fans :/

Hmm... does XP-120 fit on DFI SLI-DR ? According to the homepage there's some probs... I would be able to grab a nice 120mm fan 4-pin 120x120x38 Y.S.Tech 1212387S-1I 2800rpm, 125.5Cfm, 40.5db for example

Well I think I've made up my mind...easiest choise would prolly be Zalman CNPS7700-ALCU, silent and good excellent performing for it's price and ALCU since I dun think the almost double amount weight and extra cash is worth the extra few C gains.

I'm pretty sure it will handle San Diego 3700+ at least 10x270MHz with load temps below 55C which is my goal. If any1 has tried any similiar attempts with CNPS7700-CU or ALCU on any A64 CPU please share your results, what the temperature was like.

Thx

XP-120 mounted both ways.
Its not good consider first ram slot.

So, using orange slots, is XP-120 a problem for DFI? Better Xp-90?

Anyway Freezer 64 looks very good ...

Freezer 64 is great, I had one and it was a decent bit of kit for the money. You can squeeze most RAM under the XP-120 with the heat pipes facing the GFX. My Gskill was fine using the orange slots and an XP-120 that way found, keeps the memory cool too.

Thanks for all the posts and the very useful pictures.

I would have gone for either a XP-120 or 90 in case I had better 120mm or 92mm fans to choose among in these stores, but now it seems like the Zalman CNPS7700-ALCU @12V will do the job to keep my San Diego 3700+ cool enough at 2.7GHz (or of course more if possible). I've talked to some other people with the smaller Zalman 7000B for example, and they can run their Winchesters at 1.6V and ~2.7GHz without reaching 50C load temps. :)

To those who have a freezer64, can you measure how your load temp changes with your motherboard sitting flat (horizontal) as opposed to vertical?

Perfect, thx for the info ;)

I think I'll buy XP-120

That fan makes a damned annoying noise, don't get one.

I'm planning to get a Freezer64 to use with an AMD Athlon64 X2 4400+ processor (which, of course, I haven't bought yet).

I already have an XP-120 and the XP-90c is on its way as well. If the Freezer64 doesn't work well enough, I'm going to test both XP-90c (with a 92mm "medium speed" panaflo fan with Zalman's fanmate2 utility) and the XP-120 (with 120mm "medium speed" panaflo fan with Zalman's fanmate2 utility) and keep the setup that works best without compromising silence.

This lets me OC way further than the XP90 did..

Looks like it's going to rip the socket off your board.

The fan and the fins are actually light, the base is heavy but it's screwed in. Been running 48+ hours on it's side, just an incredible cooler no problems at all.

i got an xp-120 and i'm thinking of getting the big typhoon :). is it easy to install? i have a dfi lanparty nf4 sli-d board and with the xp-120, i had to install it upside down. the pipes will block the orange slot if i install the heatsink the right way. anyone know what the weight of the typhoon is? i also got a silverstone fm121 120mm fan. this fan is awesome, but a bit expensive. it has 9 blades and pushes 110cfm air flow. i'm thinking of getting 2 fans for front and rear mounting to exhaust hot air. is there a review that compares the big typhoon with the xp-120?

you can just slip the ram under the heatsink, ive done this many times for people that have the xp120 and any board with the memory under the heatsink. Infact this is one of the good features of the xp series, that it lets the fan blow right over the ram modules. Its not hard to install the ram, all u do is tilt it slip it in and then just install regularly when its almost fully into the slots. (hard to explain but really easy and doable in real life)
