Having terrible throttling problems at the moment :( When above the 620 range on the core and above 450 range on ram card randomly throttles back to 500/350.

Both using Radlinker and RivaTuner :( Looks like I'll have to resort to water sooner than I wished to :(

What amazed me was the goo Ati put on the card as "thermal paste". I wanted to change it with AS5, but lo behold, the goo felt like normal chewing gum! I had to use cleaning benzine and isoprophyl alcohol to get rid of it.

Nonetheless, should give me some more mhz on the core ;) Will mount water later next week.

Good althes. The 6515 drivers gave a few points boost btw., though not worth publishing. Evt. check out screens.

Have to mount the water soon, 621 / 452 is the max the card will go really :( At least now it's stable in all benches.

I have a feeling that my Trifecta will be taken down very very quickly, my back up scores are not high enough to challenge your 639 / 460 possibilities in 05 :)

I don't think there is any 100% of anyone dominating, as even 01 we are all GPU limited, though a good CPU will help of course. Getting a good clocking card is more important! Of course 256mb is a plus ;)

Depending how well my card does after I mount the water (the TEC I have to cut into the neoprene, as I have 2 caps in the way).

This is a x600xt, or basically a PC ICE 9600xt. It is only CPU dependent if it is not limited by GFX, which it is.

WR with 9600xt with DI is 20100. So dream on. If he breaks the 21000 marks I will send him a postcard saying congrats.

Hehe, I have my "old" 66GT block in my water loop, so no water yet. I have an Eng. Lit. exam on Tuesday, then 2 weeks break before Math A/O and Geography + Bio.

In other words, new water block will be on, Maxtor 16mb cache drive with Win2000 loaded in, and hopefully a 10K ohm VR :D

As you say gocchin, its all luck in my opinion. Althes has way better memory, 488 is amazing. 452 is the max for mine without any heatsinks and no mods. The core is good for 624 with stock air and no mods.

The challenge is limited to "x600 series" cards. So you can use your pro's, 256mb versions whatever. However, no DI on the chips. I would like to keep this in the realm of conventional benching, so for the GFX, only AIR - WATER - TEC - CHILLED WATER. As for DI on the cpu etc. it depends what the others think. gocchin's LS is still conventional cooling, as you can pick it up round the corner and its ready to go (on the cpu mind you), but DI ruins the point of this challenge. We can always do an "open" x600 challenge, but for now, keep in mind that this is a poor mans challenge to some degree :woot:

I hope you understand the point, the moment we bring in DI its all about who has a more DI and the tweaking goes away. gocchin's FX55 is big, but I firmly believe we're GPU limited. In other words, I don't think I'm sending flowers to anyone :D

Gocchin: Next saturday right? Yeah, sounds pretty good :) I need to get a sub $100 UEI DT200 and that harddrive, then I'm smoking :) I think I'll use a VR this time instead of pencil, my last attempt went none too well if you remember (1,8VGPU through my 66gt :D)

Your thoughts... You can do those runs, but that defies the purpose of benching mid end cards, as if you have DI on the CPU then we might as well be benching high end cards.

I hope you see the point that we want as many as possible to participate, and the moment someone slaps on DI (or phase change on CPU) we're "back up in the big leagues" and the "little guys" don't have a chance to play.

If I was desperate, I can get hold of LN2, but that defies the purpose of this challenge. Let's be little guys again where tweaking is the heart and soul :clap:

:toast: I like that idea. Ok I won't be dicing my CPU even though I just got it running @ 3360 this weekend. :D I'll stick to air and water. I just got my order in so I should see it tomorrow. I went the 256 route also even though I see the 128 is clocked almost 140 higher on the mem. :eek: I figured if gocchin was the only one running a 256 might as well add another for comparisons sake. Juliette would love to try phase change if I had $800+ for the system DI only cost me about $40-50 for a weekend to run so it's much cheaper. Here's a suggestion you might like. Maybe do stictly air this weekend next weekend water or TEC and so forth this way you'll have a nice comparison on cards running air then water and so forth.

I believe it shouldn't be a problem. I have had issues uploading in the past. So I would remove the HD and stick it on my other rig. Then when you open the file use 01 to open it. Once the screen comes up go for the online services tab or whatever and you can send a saved project. I am not sure if I have done it with 2000 but definately from one HD w/ and OS while using a differant HD's OS to upload.

Well new card on the way. I was a little leary in the beginning when I pulled the card out of the bag and there was 2 stains (like dried H20). When I ran 2K1 theres was a few artifacts at 10mhz over stock on the mem. :( I turned and ran the tester on ATI tray tools. It was artifacting below stock mem speed. I called the shop and am sending this one back. In the meantime I should have another by tomorrow of the 128mb flavor. I had also noticed my card was detected at 290 instead of the whopping 300 it should show at stock. The 128 is stock of 370.

I *have* a Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 9, which is only 60GB. I bought a Maxtor DiamondMax 10 250gb (16mb cache and all) to use as my primary drive, and the DM9 as my benching drive.

Unfortuantely the DM10 didnt like the idea of being fully functional on arrival :(

My new FX-55 isn't running so well, it's just not stable and responding to higher voltage very well so I'm taking it off the vapochill and will run it at 3ghz on water... with the x600 (if it ever gets here) on water too.... now you guys will kick my butt ;)

Well run didn't go well. Maybe bad contact with the paste and card. As soon as I booted in there was artifacts. I played around a bunch since I only saw them on certain windows screens not bios screens. :confused: I am off to grab some DI so will be trying again tonight or tomorrow. :)

The x600xt runs CC generals and NFSU1 fine, am very happy with it. Granted, its not a 6600GT or a 6800GT, but for me it's not too big a deal. Running at full detail and 1280*1024 is nothing more than an added bonus to the game :)

I feel like I'm letting myself and you other guys done because I am not benchmarking, but I have 7 exams next week, 1 final in Danish on monday. After that I promise to bench with you :toast:

That mem speed seems real low. Shouldn't that card be 290 or 300 stock? Also the 256mb versions don't clock as well as the 128mb.

My card is PRO but have 4 ns mem chips ( those used in regular X600 ), there was few such cards on market. I bough this one coz its costed 100$ wich is relly low prce for me. But eaven if my mem clock is low i dont think its reason of my low score, its too low for my gpu clocks.

I think the score is not very good but probable - the 4ns really kills mem bandwith across the card in 01SE.

Keep in mind that most scores above you are over 600 core and over 450 memory. Especially the memory has proven itself to be give considerable gains in all the benchmarks.

your CPU seems to be doing good though :D I got my BBA x600xt refference sample for ~$50 ;)

Well might be out. Aparently killed my 128MB card. Still had the 256mb didn't rma. Can't fit the water cooler on so set up one of the Zallman heat pipe coolers on it. I was amazed how much of a better result I got from stock cooling. Max was 325 now up to 355. I had my FX running @ 3gig and results still where horrible. All weekend all benches where low so I have something set wrong on both my HD's and haven't been able to figure it out.

No one has broken 20k yet? I had 19.9k on a water cooled clawhammer at 2.85 and a stock cooled volt modded 9600XT... With a watercooled or better diego, some winbond memory, and a Vmodded card with air cooling 21k+ should be easy...

No, I haven't been able to get wires small enough yet. I have some benching to do, my win2k is already installed and everything but somehow time is lacking. I took my water apart, that will be awhile before its back up.

For 01 i use winxp and the 5.2 cats or try the 5.3 or 5.4

Well I got a new 128mb card did some searching first. I killed my other 128mb card unfortunately. I know I have trouble with caps in the way of my H2O block. I found the Sapphire version had no caps nearby so I grabbed one. BTW good job PULSAR time to push a little further. :)

Yea, the 5.6cats did work out well but no changes from previous version. I found 5.4's to be the best at all 3 3dmark scores so on the benchin rig thats what I'm stick with. BTW what kind of ram does your card have my was hynix 3.6ns which is rated for 270mhz :( no wonder my memory was so slow.

EDIT: Just having a look thru neweggs website and the model numbers with the model number I ordered (RX600XT-TD128E II)the mem comes @ 270 and the (RX600XT-TD128E) comes @ 330. So NewEgg screwed me and listed the wrong default speed for that model. Now I have to spend all morning tomarrow on the phone with the RMA department ugh...I hope they dont pull this crap where well we will give the other one to you for the additional cost hell I just spent $20 to overnight the card back to them :mad:

Well finally made up my mind got a ASUS x600xt...seems like its clocks nicely from reviews, but the thing that got me was the asus monitoring software which included temps both gpu/mem and also voltage monitoring vcore, vcc, and vddq. Not that I even know what they are lol...what is vcc and vddq? Sorry for being dumb I know one is memory.

Ahhh thought you where getting the sapphire. It doesn't monitor voltage but I added a molex to mine so it's easier to measure. Sorry for my newbness lol but both of the last two are for mem. Well got my Asus card today looks alot nicer :p: Put a swiftech mcx-159 on the core for :banana::banana::banana::banana:s and giggles see how the temps are when I get my venice back...anyways harleyboy what kind of ramsinks were you using on your x600 for your clocks???

Well that's what the 6069 in 03 was from. Got the gpu up to 690. ;) Temps. according to ATI Tool was -25c or so and water was not chilled just ambient. I might be throwing di on the card this weekend. :)

Ran it on di today. I PM'd a mod about the 01 and he replied that he will forward it to the correct people. :) If the #1 in 01 gets removed then I have the trifecta. :)

Actually was able to hit 700 and only ran 03 and 05 today. Was havin problems getting past 700 around 1.6v or so. Maybe ovp on the card? Think I can go bk and run it again w/ the pelt and get close to the same scores. Temps according to ATItool where around -52c So think either I was voltage limited or the core caps at 700. :confused:

ok i bought saphire x600xt 256mb model and it has hymix 3.3ns memorys :brick: but hey it only did cost 127 euros :brick:

but i was able to oc without artifacts core 500@584mhz mem 290@325mhz
and my A 64 3000 venica was 2.6 ghz

and i almost hit 17k in 2k01

now i just ordered swiftec mvw50 waterblock and 80w peltier :D
