I have a water cooled 3000+ newcastle at hopefully 2.6ghz or more now and I'm pretty sure its quiet enough for me to sleep with it on so I figure why not start this folding crap. Its got stats and I love stats :D How many work units or whatever they are called would my CPU bring in a day? Should I even bother with this folding vs D2OL conflict there seems to be now?

You'd probablly hit 140-150 canidates per day.
Fire it up!!! :bananal: :bananal: :bananal: :bananal: :bananal:

There isn't any conflict - only some uncertainty. I was satisfied with a post I read in the D2OL forum earlier. Pack your heat and start crunching. We've got some cows to tip over. ;)

Will be running it as soon as I can get my video card cooling to work!
How hard is it to set up? Is there an OS X client for it? **looks at ibook** :D

Not hard at all, buddy. And yes, there is an OS X client (http://www.d2ol.com/dOL/instruction_content.html#mac) for your iBook. ;)
Is there a Linux client?
Good to see a DC project that caters for more than just Windows :)

Yes, there is a Linux client (http://www.d2ol.com/dOL/instruction_content.html#linux) as well. ;)

I'm on "conformer 9" whatever that means but all I know is that I can't stop looking at the damned thing to see how far along I am and that I'm SCREWED :stick: Thanks guys, now I can be even poorer because I need more computers now...

Dude. Close that window and just let it chill in the bottom corner of your screen as a tray icon. If you really want to crunch as much candidates as possible, just leave it alone. ;)
By the way, look how distant I am now from the OC world. Since I started crunching towards the end of March, this is all I ever think about. I'm a freakin' stats junkie. :p:

Dont get me started about stats. I refuse to play on a CS server without them. I've also concluded that the G4 SUCKS at D2OL... I'll try and get a cooler that works on my 9500pro so I can have some A64 power...
Ok first canidate done. I figure this thing can do 11-12 a day. I might as well just close it :p:

D2OL stats are the worst. You'll find yourself getting up 4 minutes passed the hour in the middle of the night just to see who you've passed up. The D2OL disease is one that can not be cured with crunching. You'll only find yourself more infected as each hour passes you by. Muwahahaha!
Someone should devise a DC project to crunch for a cure to the crunching disease :D
3 cpu years into mine and still wanting to add more more more :)

just either create a thread or find the old member list thread, sign in, and start crunching. As far as the sigs go, just find the link in the D2OL project page.

Okay. Here's the plan. Any computer that you touch and have access to, install D2OL on it. If you want to be shady, install it as a service. Muwahahaha! D2OL p\/\/ns your soul. :rocker:

How do I install it as just a service?
A64 seems stable at 2.5ghz 1.6V with all fans turned down. Not so sure about video card but its been ok for 2d stuff so far. DLing D2OL now :D
