I have replaced the thermal compound on the nb.
I havent installed my h2o stuff yet, ill do it next week, but i really need to know why whats the problem.

hey, this thread doesnt really belong in the xtreme overclocking section wich is for xtreme overclocking topics only, i moved your thread to the amd section wich is for all amd system related and basic amd overclocking related topics :)

I would say that your graphics card is either running out of power when you overclock the rest of your system, your PCI-bus isn't locked, or perhaps your graphics card is overheating with the increase in heat inside your case, provided by the CPU. :)

Totally agree with you but aren't some of the graphics calculations still performed by the cpu? always ready to learn :)

this happened to me before, not sure what causes it but could it be just a bad mobo?

I had this problem with a x800xtpe club-3d card as well. if i pushed the fx over 2900mhz my vpu would recover, og i got freezeups ot arties. i sold the card after trying everything and got a gecube instead. did not have any problems since.......very strange indded. i posted a thread in here with it at the time......:)

The CPU only calculates the dimentions of all of the polygons, i dont think that would show up as artifacts.

Pics?. Either GPU or Mobo Chipset/NB overheating imo. Could also be an underpowered PSU

edit: also try increasing/decreasing vAGP

I will install my watercooling next week, im running the gpu at xt pe speed, without vmods(520mhz, i can run it at 580mhz without artifacts). And i have tryed to increase the vAGP to 1.75v, without any results.

I've had this happen twice now and both times it been because of my memory going bad and needing to be replaced.
Its doing it to me right now and I'm at stock LOL

Arties and VPU recover sounds like to high HT speed.

Tried dropping it to 2.5x or 2x ?

And yeah .. could be mem also.

I got mad artifacts in 3d when I tried running 1 DS and 1 SS stick in dual-channel with nForce2.
Looked very much like overheated GPU.

Ive justed tryed with only 1 mem. IT WORKED! NO ARTIFACTS! :woot:
I have tryed both mems in diffrent slots, but it didnt help.

OK! ill try 2x or 2.5x on HT!
Hope it works.

EDIT:Lowering the ht from 3x to 2.5x didn't help, and with 2x i couldn't even boot :(

Time for RMA?

I get this weird problem in HL2 where if I'm clocked too high on the CPU it starts doing the looping-sounds lock-up. That particular kind of lock-up is believed to be associated with moving textures to the vram. I also found artifacts in 3dmark when clocked too high... I'm still investigating...
