I'm building a new A64 rig for moderate overclocking on air. I have the Gigabyte fanless X800XL graphics board, DFI Ultra SLI-D motherboard and OCZ PC3200 Value Series (VX unbinned part, see AnandTech test). The RAM should do 240-250 MHz with 2-2-2 timings. I am getting a Venice CPU as soon as it's available here, but might run a Winchester 3000+ meanwhile.

I've read a lot on the forum, but it's too much, so I need some kind summary, please.

What BIOS versions should I use?

What basic BIOS settings should I use?

Is my Antec 380W enough? (2 HDs)

(RAM up to 3.3 V, 240 MHz FSB on a 3200+ Venice should give 2.4 GHz as a base overclock. With 2-2-2 timings it should perform well too. Any Windows/software hints?)

First of all get a better PSU.....around 450 watts at least...

Are you sure? The Antec is a high quality PSU. I already have 2 machines running in Antec Aria cases. They have 300 W PSUs and run fine with a X600 AIW board and A64 3000+. The 380 in the Antec Sonata should be fine for regular overclocking, no?

I agree, if you buy crappy brands you will need higher rated ones...

Nope...

Get a OCZ Powerstream 600, PPC&C 510 SLI or Silverstone Zeus for REAL power and stability.

silverstone zeus?! thats 650watts of power! its designed for sli. i dont think he needs that much power. all he's doing is OCing a 3000+ on air. nothing big. a good brand 450watt will work perfectly.

OCZ 520 Watt isn't to much. Or the 420 Watt version.
