Hi all.
I'm new to the whole GPU OC bussines but I'm looking for a way to really squeeze every little drop out of my card.
After some artifacting problems when switching XT bios I lost 40 MHZ on the core and gained 50 MHZ on the RAM and I've asked tictac if he'd like to look into it for me and I'm awaiting a reply from him.
Now in the meantime, what can I do to tweak my card?
And I'm not talking profiles or LOD mods or something. (you can post that also off course)
I hope you guys can help me out!
Cheers

Does your card have a R360 core?
The memory speed boost comes from the relaxed memory timings used on the R9800xt.

yup I have R360
on the old sapphire XT bios it did 450/350
on the gigacube bios it does 412/398
:)
And I can't push mem no more, thanks to my cooler I can't place 3 heatsinks on the remaining ramchips because there is not enough height

I suggest u to switch back on the previous Bios.
I have tried many XT Bioses on my 9800pro (r360) without any improvement in performances @all.
Most of the attempts result in a heavy loss of performances or various troubles.
my 9800pro is now voltmodded and liquid cooled with a great improvement in clocks.
gpu 555
ram 421
I was very very lucky with this Sapphire, but i repeat no need to flash any XT bios! No significant improvement in performances.
I suggest u to make a gpu vmod, and a ovp mod.
Think is the only way to make u're vga run faster!
Cooling memories is quite useless i had no gain with copper hs or with a vmod. Vmem seems not to affect the ram frequencies!
Well i'm talking about my vga, i don't know if u're card could "work" the same way!
I have the italian 3dmark 2001 Record with 28019
87xx @2003
35xx @2005
Made on an AMD 754 platform.

hi kam,
i recently slapped a 1u ocz p4 eliminator on my r360 core 9800pro 256mb.with stock setup i could do about 410 core, 380 mem. after cooling, and a very slight voltage mod on gpu, 420 and 400. ofcourse it *works* even up to 434/417 but i dont like playing twinkly games... and trying to get high clean run. initially i had a problem with good fit on the core, but i think it is solved now. before it went as high as 50c and now its 35c idle, and 41c overclocked in rthdribl.
since my core seems to be stuck around only 410-420, what do you suggest is the problem (other than lack of voltage, which i will fix sometime soon)
