View Full Version : Vmod question
Kinda new at this, but just a quick question. Does it matter which pin of a pot is soldered to which mod points? ie. Vsense must goto one point while ground must goto another. I been reading some mod guides and they simply state connect a pot to these points and so on, am I to assume order does not matter?

Just use the first Leg an the second :) (front is there where u can change the resitance

I always use the two pins closest to the adjustment screw. I cut the back one off of the resistor. If you use those two pins - turning counterclockwise reduces volts. Clockwise increases volts.
It doesn't matter which order you solder the wires on the resistor. :D

Yes is does matter.
On a standard cermet VR there are 3 pins.
If you look at the pic below pin 2 (the middle one) moved along the resistor changing the resistance between the middle pin and the ends.
The resistance between the two end pins will allways be the same. If you want to know the value of a VR then you can measure resistance between 1 and 3 and find out.
As resitors dont have any polarity there will be no + or - wire on a standard resistor vmod.
And you can solder onto either end tab.. But you must use the middle one! for one wire.
Which end you solder too depends on if you want your ajustment to be clockwise or anticlockwise for more voltage.
I allways wind my VR all the way anticlockwise before I fit it. Then I know that when i turn it clockwise will allways be more voltage.
