dang 32 ounces for $7 is nice considering dangerden sells like.....what is it 12 ounces for $8.50?

Anyone call that number yet? Gotta say I'm kind of leary about seeing a number with no 'manufacturer' name or whatever you want to call it.............does Zerex really mean crack? :p

I called it! Its the direct order location for valvoline. It took me about 15 minutes playing dial this number, then try that number. I finally got someone on the line that knew what I was wanting.

2 of the valvoline locations told me that zerex was no longer a produce.

Just got off the phone, he said they sell by the case but he took phone # & said he would call me if he could get the ok to split case.I will order 2 quarts if the deal pans out. I think if others called yhey would do the deal.

Nubius
04-25-2005, 09:58 PM
hell yeah I need to order some too, 2 3/4s more than dangerden for $1.50 cheaper lol.

spatman

Ok, I just ordered my 32 Oz zerex total with shipping and handling was $15.23. I also have the new part number...

Part # VV858-1

The VV858 is for the case, and the -1 is on the computer now indicating just 1 Qt.

I'm guessing they just take credit card right over the phone right?

Let us know how long it took to get there and whatnot :D

awesome find :toast:

spatman
04-26-2005, 01:01 PM
Ya, you do need a debit or credit card to order.

Nubius
04-26-2005, 01:04 PM
yeah I got one, was just making sure that's how they took it, but........in retrospect it was an assanine question being that........how the hell else would they get the money ? lol I guess there's always money orders, but yeah that'd be a pain

spatman

You know even at $15 bucks for 32 Oz that is alot better than buying it from watercooling sites. There is not a single place in town, or state for that matter to buy that stuff here in Indiana.

well I didnt call then number, but my local NAPA ordered it for me, all they needed was the part number vv858

$10 for 32 oz

I tried that, nither NAPA or Autozone could order it here in Terre Haute! I have know idea whats the matter thats why I searched for a number to call.

That makes me understand why you see Steve Martin burn Terre Haute on a map in
"Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid "

Don't feel like the lone ranger, i got the same run around.
Before i order 2 quarts of zerex here is what i think i"ll need.
My system holds just under 2 quarts at a 5% solution i think that is about 3oz. so if that is right i'll get about 10 changes, about how often would i need to change in your opinion?

spatman
04-26-2005, 02:15 PM
I'm going to probly change every 3 to 6 months. This way you can be sure to cut down on the bio growth if there is any.

I will most likely stick to a 3 month routine, I hear about all these reports of peoples tubing fogging and what not.

Nubius
04-26-2005, 02:18 PM
yeah 3 months sounds good.

The people at NAPA here are really nice folk, but I think I'm just gonna call that number and get some.

$15 for 32 ounces is freakin awesome considering like I said 12 ounces is $8.50 at dangerden and that's of course before shipping is even considered!

spatman
04-26-2005, 02:41 PM
Ya heater, that is just the amount for my res. I will mix it by the gallons, 1 gallon = 128 fluid oz. I will then drain off 6 oz of water and add 6 oz of zerex.

Nubius, the folks here are nice and all but just can't get it. NAPA here told me that it is no longer being produced!

Good idea Spatman, since i have my empty jugs from flushing. That will be handy premixed.

Nubius
04-26-2005, 08:02 PM
so you're gonna use about a 5% mix of zerex spatman? Have you done that before and it worked out well? Maxxx advised me about 10%, so I was going to do the same thing, take a gallon of water and just premix it so then it'll always be ready to go.

spatman
04-26-2005, 08:19 PM
All I'm going to have in my loop is copper, brass and silver, so I think the risk of corrosion will be very low even with just plain distiled water. If I keep to a set routine of flushing and changing coolant every 3 months I should be fine.

Plus the good thing about the Storm G5 is that the block itself is a biocide. Silver is very deadly to things that like to live in water.

Nubius
04-26-2005, 08:48 PM
oh man you're gonna have that block? Sweet. I'll be having just copper and brass in my loops.

Anyone know if JB Weld interferes at all? It's a kind of 'steel' in half of the mix, but I don't know if that'll actually cause any corrosion

spatman
04-26-2005, 09:44 PM
I don't know about corrosion, but I do know from experiance that JB weld will become brittle with age, I would use goop

Nubius
04-26-2005, 10:57 PM
I used jbweld for here:

http://www.27thavenue.com/images/jbweld.jpg theres a tiny bit on the side where the top of the heatercore pipe meets with the inner edge of the female copper thread

What size threads are those Nubius?

Also I have a tourch if you want to braze them.

Zerex on it's way ,they called today no problems.Got 2 quarts because of problem finding it, also if they have or in the future quit making it.Thanks Spatman for the find. I did not think i would have problem getting it so i had not really looked. What a bummer had i waited any longer.

Nubius

Also I have a tourch if you want to braze them. 1/2" threads. Ready for some 1/2" barbs from dangerden or 5/8" with 1/2" thread if I can find em.

I don't know the first thing about brazing. I think it'd melt the JB weld that's currently on there lol, and with the little amount being on the inside I think it'd drip down in there which would be no good. Oh well I'll have to bring it over sometime and let you take a look at it.

Ya know heater, Stew should have our silver right about now. :YIPPIE: Now we have about 2 to 3 more weeks to wait for production.

Well, I have some good news...

The silver has been delivered, and as of yesterday, it is now with the machinists.

spatman

Well, I ordered that Zerex on the 26 of April and it was at my door the 29 of April. Not to bad took all of 3 days.

Well, just call them back till you get someone that knows the product. I had a very hard time finding it.

Just tell them you need Zerex Racing Super Coolant 32 Oz. They do have it on the computer!

Spatman you might look on invoice see if # for zerex is same. When he called me back he said sorry it took so long something about the #, i was on job & cell phone wnen he called so i'm not positive about # he said but he repeated zerex 32oz.

spatman
04-29-2005, 02:18 PM
The # I have on the invoice is VALVV858-1. So I'm sure VV858-1 will work!

Sorry to bring up a late question

How is it stored. Is it ok to mix a batch, distilled and zerex, and leave it sitting , till my next use. Or do I just mix amount I use per fill.

thx

I have a full gallon mixed up right now sitting on my top shelf in a closet. As long as the cap is on tight so you don't have evaporation you should be fine.
