I bench it since 2001, and it's still my favorite benchmark.
But... It's not going to be doing much when multi-core era begins. A 3dmark 2001 with SMT support would be very cool...

I highly doubt they will SMT 3DMark2001; they'll only SMT 2005 and newer benchmarks.
I think that even when dual-core is around people will still enjoy benchmarking 2001 to see how high they can score in such an old benchmark; just like people are doing right now.

Apparently Intel isn't planning on making dual cores even close mainstream until late 2005 or early 2006. I don't think we can expect a whole lot of SMT/SMP/whatever it's called-enabled software than there is now.
For benchmarking, a fast single core CPU is still king, and will probably remain so for at least the rest of this year.

of course, but we aren't going to benchmark in single cores next year, are we?
Like i said, I don't like neither 3dmark 2003 nor 2005, so futuremark, do please update 2001, or do something like it for 2006 maybe!!!!
In real world 03 and 05 i think are crap, only gpu dependent, or almost. Whereas 2001 always gives you something when you exchange your gpu, or any other HW.

Bit like asking for DOS with DX10 support.
Or a Mac that will play DOOM4.
Not going to happen.
