My watercooling is all setup in my new thermaltake shark case and when I fired up my pc for the first time, my radiator started to leak immediately. I'm using the Swiftech MCR120 radiator with nylon barbs that came with it. I located the leakage on the radiator and it turned out to be around the threading of both barbs. I think this is because the caulk on the threading came off. There's not much I can do to fix this problem since my system is already installed and I would have to take everything out again so is there a sealant I can buy that will fix this kind of leaking?

You will have to take it all out then...

Bit silly not to leak test it before you started.

You could try sealant but it might not last forever, and it would leak when you were not expecting it and probably kill something. Best to remove the barbs and tape them up propperly so they dont leak.

I bought Silicon II clear Sealant. Will this work? How much should I put on?

putting slicone around the outside is not the way to properly fix a leak on threads, this won't work. you need to unscrew the barbs, either use pipe sealant, or teflon tape, then screw it back in. if you use the tape make sure you wind it on in the right direction.

no quick fix, drain, retape, leak test, then fire it up

Agreed. I've got the marine goop. That stuff's been holding a res I made for the last 3 years. Do it right, and it'll hold forever.

I used the plumbers goop to seal my custom res, and I can tell you that it is some great stuff.

It sounds like you accidentally punctured the rad. You can try soldering it shut (after taking your loop apart and draining of course), ut you will more than likely need to purchase a new rad.

I had the same problem with a MCR320 I bought from Petra's. I tried multiple types of plastic fittings and tape/no tape. But before I got drastic I asked Petra's for advice and they sent me a couple of nickle plated brass fittings with the o-ring seals and they worked like a charm. It was a very simple solution compared to ripping everything apart.

Thanks for changing that Gabe. Being limited to the 3/8" barbs was kind of annoying.
