Well, I'm in the process of cleaning my 115C survivor and thought while I had it out, I'd join the last L3. Upon closer inspection of the proc, the L1's and L3's are all connected- no pits, cuts, nothing. Is this normal? I wish I had a digi-cam or webcam to take pictures of this...... trust me, I know what I'm looking for and at :D The last 4 L5's and first 4 L12's are cut though, if that makes any difference.

A couple weeks ago, I tried to lower the mult. with no luck, just a hard lock upon restart, so I just kind of let it slip since I didn't have any more time to play. Now though, it appears that I need to give this more attention.

you know, i didn't look at the L3 bridges, but my L1 bridges are connected on my tbred xp1800. the only ones i really looked at were the L5 bridges, a couple of them were cut.

i've got mine running at a 12.5 multiplier and a 145mhz fsb. this is basically the best my current motherboard can do. upgrade time.

I guess I should have said why I was asking- I was looking at one of the unlocking threads that pointed to an article about connecting the last L3 to get all the multipliers. I was just a little surprised that all of the L3's were connected- I was assuming that they wouldn't be I guess :)

i thought you just had to connect an L5 bridge on these tbreds. or i guess you could do the pin trick.

Yea, I thought that too- playing with it right now and so far 8.5 through 11 all seem to be just happy. I'll see how high or low they can go before it craps out. I keep reading all these stories about people hitting 2ghz with these RIRGA's and hell, I'd be happy to get close to 1.9!!

At any rate, it seems like I was worrying over nothing

should also say, I've got mults 6 through 15 available in the BIOS too........

hmm, mines an AIUGA, week 41 i believe.

i don't think i can access the lower multipliers with my board.

i can't get it any higher than 1.8 with the board i've got, but i should be upgrading soon.

here's what I pulled off my chip:

RIRGA 0234WPMW

So what's that, a week 34 RIRGA ???

By the way, what have you got for a board? There was an 8K5A2+ in the for sale area for 80 shipped a day or so ago......

yeah, i'd guess thats what it is. i've never heard of an RIRGA though.

i've got a old MSI K7T Turbo LE, it's an sdram board and it supposedly doesn't even support chips running faster than 1.53 ghz.

funny thing, i live about 20 miles away from portland. but i don't have any money to spend on a board and 512 megs of ddr. i'll probably just get an nforce2 and ram early next year.

L3 bridges are used to by AMD to set the Multiplier, ALL closed = 11X.
http://www.beachlink.com/candjac/index.htm link to Tbred article for Table of open/closed L3 bridges' settings for ALL Multipliers. Link to Multiplier Code article to "understand" the logic behind the binary Multiplier Code. Circuits article helps you understand how signal circuits are modded to change settings.

L1 bridges simple connect mobo to signal circuits on the CPU, if closed bios can change signals to Multiplier module, if open bios can't change.

Apparently the RIRGA stepping is the same as what the newest XP2200's are. But that was about a month ago too......

Hehe, that's a cool board though.

Hmmm........... where you at?? I'm about 20 miles from p-town too......

canby, it's south of portland.

wooooo, I'm just north of Hubbard! We're practically neighbors :) I'll pm you sometime soon before a mod get's pissed about our conversation.

Back to the topic- I'm still testing the multipliers out, with good results. I'll post again when I'm done.

Hey neighbors! i'm in Salem BTW. Both my RIRGA and my AIUGA have closed L3.I believe the multi mod is for the L5.

Hey there SlimHitman....... well, nice to see another Oregonian :D Anyway, I've been playing with this thing for quite a while now, and according to what candjac wrote, my multi should be locked down at 11x, but it's not. Currently at 173x10 just to see where she goes......... doesn't seem to like 10.5x166, but everything around there is fine for some reason. 9.5, 10, 11 all will work with the right amount of coaxing. 10.5 is just a no-no. Kinda strange......

oh yeah, candjac, that's a great page you're maintainging there. TONS of information....... wow.

i was going to say something earlier, but i wasn't 100% sure my L3 bridges were closed.

my 10.5, 11, 11.5 and 12 work correctly for sure. my 13 shows up as a 12.5 and my 14 and 15 show up as very low numbers, probably 5 and 5.5. i didn't try anything below 10.5.

how close is yours to mine BigDov?

I'm not confident in my KD7 but it ran 1.8ghz @ 1.8vcore and 1.866ghz @ 1.95vcore with AX7 and 40cfm.

his is a week 34 as well.

i believe the last number is a serial number, so they won't be the same.

seversphere- I'll have to get back to you on the rest of the proc info....... I'm having a hard time getting mine to want to go much higher than 1800. 1825 or so I can get it to do, but anything much higher than that is really hard to keep stable.

seversphere

felix88 I could tell he got his from newegg so I was wondering how close his serial number was to mine. Another guy had a chip 18 cores off mine but he didn't post his results as of yet.

BigDov what heatsink you got on it? Did it previously sit on a xp? You might want to lap the burned in stepping marks off the heatsink if so. You want the best surface mating with these smaller cores and since the tbred cores are stepping free you want to have a nicely lapped sink to sit on it. :toast:

Aw dang- I walked right out past my note that had the serial # on it. I'll have to post it from home tonight.....

I've got an MCX462+ on it right now; it was used on that 1600+ I bought from you a few months back ;) taken apart, lapped and then mated to the TBred. All marks/burns/ugliness is from the TBred...... in fact, I'll be taking it apart again this weekend to see if I can get it cleaned up better.

Hey seversphere- here's the info you asked for.....

9316778260073 Looks like mine was born about 60 chips before yours eh?

seversphere
12-13-2002, 01:51 PM
thanx for the info - 60 cores before my two should be real close in quality but let's hope you got 2.1ghz on air :D

keep us posted on your results at 1.85/1.9/1.95/2.0 vcore is ya can.

good luck!

hmmm....... no such luck. Barely able to get it above 1.8 with any amount of voltage!!! Booo!
