View Full Version : Can't deal with 92mm Tornado anymore. Water kit for FX-53?

This Tornado fan is just too darn loud. Time to go water cooling. But I need it to be compatible with my acrylic case. (http://www.clearcomputercase.com/Spec/1310-1.htm)

With the kits I see most of the radiators are 120mm. I only have one 120mm hole in the front, a 92mm in the back, and a 80mm blowhole up top.

Any suggestions? Kit or custom? Thanx

Unfortunatly your options are a bit limited. But the setup that I am suggesting would cool your FX nicely and be much quieter than your tornado.

CPU Block: Swiftech MCW6000/6002
RAD: Voyuer Mods 120mm Heatercore + Shroud w/ Panaflo M1A 120x38mm fan
Pump: Aquaxtreme 50z
Then just use either a single bay res or a t-line, whichever you prefer. That setup will keep you way under $175 or so and it'll cool your FX beautifully while still fitting in your case nicely.

hmm... well enjoy took the words right out of my mouth.. if you dont like the look of the heatercore you can exchange it for a black ice xtreme 1. but doing so will net you a small loss in performance.

lol I'm moving to water cooling because my 80mm is way too freakin loud and annoying, so I know how you feel. Also though I want to cool my GPU which water cooling can do quite nicely

Good luck with your setup

I currently have a Panaflo 120x38mm fan in the front but as for some of the parts do you mean this radiator (http://www.voyeurmods.com/index.php?action=item&id=991&prevaction=category&previd=2&prevstart=20) and this shroud (http://www.voyeurmods.com/index.php?action=item&id=1031&prevaction=category&previd=2&prevstart=60)?

The 120mm fan is on the inside front so if I put the radiator on the inside and the fan on the outside with the case front inbetween then I wouldn't need the shroud, correct?

But if I do this then I would be blowing warm air right into the Arctic Cooling silencer mounted to the vid card and passing over 2 hard drives. (Although I'm not overclocking the vid card because it does not overclock well at all.)

Is the radiator 38mm thick? The 120x38 fan is currently sandwiched between the case and my 2 hard drives.

Thanx. The biggest problem is space with this midtower but I'm sure I can work something out. I'm a Dawn of War addict and hearing the fan over the game even at lower rpms is still overbearing and annoying. It was pretty cool at first since this was my 1st rig that I ever built but the loudness gets old after a while.

I have a Antec 480 TrueBlue. Does the pump run off the psu and will it be enough?

the pump will do fine..

the radiator we are talking about is a single 120mm. and you would want to get a shroud that is deeper.. the thin ones dont do much.

this radiator. http://www.voyeurmods.com/index.php?action=item&id=995&prevaction=category&previd=2&prevstart=0

Thanx for the link. How do you mount the heater core to the shroud? I see no screw holes for mounting.

Got a good store for the 50z? And what 1/2" tubing do you guys recommend?

I got a green light from the wife on this project! She can't stand the noise either when she's on the other pc across the room.

www.cooltechnica.com sells the 50z. Get Tygon 7/16" ID, find it here: http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=USPlastic&category%5Fname=18316&product%5Fid=7689&cookie%5Ftest=1

It fits over 1/2" fittings nice and snuggly and is easier to manage than 1/2" ID. No performance loss either.

there are bolts that go through the heatercore to mount it..
