Hello.
Second thread here in Xtream System Forums.

I have some basic questions about RAM:

First of all, what does TCCD mean?
How do I know if a RAM has it or not?
How does the T1 or T2 on the RAM timmings affect bandwith?

Sry if this sounds to obvious. Im kinda of a n00b with some RAM stuff :D

Now about my RAM

I bought a CORSAIR XMS TWINX1024-3200XLPRO (Latency: 2-2-2-5, 1GB(512MBx2), PC-3200)

Is this RAM good enough to compare with some of the best G.skill, OCZ, etc. or did I just wasted my money?:brick:

My main objective is to get my future A64 3500+ Venice with the DFI Lanparty UT Ultra-D, and cooled with WC between 2.8-3.0 Ghz. Is this possible with the RAM I have.

Wouldnt want to see those $275 wasted :(

tnx.

Hokay

TCCD is the chip that is on your RAM, TCCD is used in the OCZ PC-3200 Rev. 2, most g.Skill along with other high performing ram. 2.5-3-3-7, 2.5-4-3-7 and 2.5-4-4-8 seem to be good timings to play with.

You only know for SURE what ram chip you have when you remove the heatspreader and look at the RAM, I dont think Corsair covers up their chips (didnt on mine) so they'll say TCCD

T1 is faster but T2 might allow for a higher OC. use T1 at all times unless you want to see the utter MAX ram speed, the performance drop from T1 to T2 is huge

The 3500+ Venice ought have a 11x muti, for 2.8-3ghz thats only 255-272mhz on the RAM, you'd can PROBABLY consider useing a 10x multi and the 280-300mhz RAM range with the TCCD but nothing is for certain

It’s the XLpro. It’s the one that says "Xtra low latency" and has some activity LEDs on it.

I was finding some review about the XLpro and I would say all of them give it a very nice rating. Before I bought this ram what cached my attention
was the low timing (2-2-2-5 1T) and the nice looking LED activity indicator (just for looks) :p:

I see a lot of reviews showing 215 - 220 FPS at 2-2-2-5 (2.9v), and 235 - 240 FPS at 2-3-3-6 (2.9v) as the most stable OCing at those timings with that RAM. It doesn’t look like a Xtreme Overclocking, so my question is:

What’s the lowest timing and highest FSB ever achieved with the G.skill, and OCZ RAM?

I also would like to know whats RAM brain power is meant :p:

Generally, Corsair and Crucial TCCD isnt as good as PDP/OCZ/Gskill. I have had sets of Corsair TCCD both max out around 245-250 @ 3-4-4-8 :( PDP is only 220.00 and it does 290 2.5-3-3-7 2.8V
