Got a new "cold heat" solder wand, so I figured I better test drive it. :)

Thats my shiny new X850XT. You'd swear they made the board to be volt modded. ;)

vgpu - 1.7v
core - 660mhz
mem - 621mhz

Load temp - 40c

artifact free.

Only hits 86,111 in AM3... but I'm very cpu bottled. (3200 winch @ 2.6, cbbid -> crap)

2.55v gpu hu?? LOL I sure hope not :p:

You must mean 1.55v, but since your on water feel free to go 1.65v :)

dude.... ur not supposed to use that cold heat thing on anything with ICs, its basically a mini arc welder and heats the solder with tons of electricity like a traditional arc welder... so u run a high risk of killing ur card by using that thing.

plus... its advertised in infomercials, it cant be that good :p:

I mean 2.55v. load temps are low, so I don't have a problem. ... and if it dies... I have a second one to replace it.

i own it, too. From my experience, its a piece of junk. yes it can solder things, but doesnt compare to a honest to goodness soldering iron.

and the tip is basically a giant resistor that heat up super quickly, making it hot enough to melt solder. But yeah, I have seen sparks jumping from the tip to solder on multiple occasions. I would NEVER use it on anything important.

Lol, I made a joke about that. I never thought it acctually did it. It must last for like 15 minutes.

Let me guess, a Sperry mulitmeter? Yeah, With a Sperry I have a 16V 12V rail, a 7V 5V rail and a 6V 3.3V rail. I ran it over with my truck after I used it for 5 minutes because it was such trash. Get a Fluke.

2.55v vgpu? 0_o

and you only get 660/627? i get 594/627 with cold air, stock, with my x850xtpe. what did the card clock to at stock? and then with water?

2.55V? You have got to be wrong.

yea, 2.55 has to be too high. Maybe a multi reading problem? Maybe your reading the ram. Anyways, nice soildering job, and cranck it up a little higher.

hahaha
im such a dumbass. I grabbed my other mult and checked it again. ... 1.7vgpu
I've got two Actron mults. Never screwed up on me before.

Gonna have to buy a fluke.

What would you say is maximum vgpu with such a low temp? I mean 1.7v and I load @ 40c.

i think tahts too much
in 1 year this thingh has a sudden death

Temps have nothing to do with too much voltage. I would say 1.7vgpu max benchies, and 1.65 24/7 on water. Subtract .1v if on air

sparks jump across this piece of crap all the time. and yeah, I've probably gotten in about 1/2 hour of soldering time and the tip is visibly wearing. Good thing I got it as an X-mas present and didnt waste my own money on it.
