Just wanted to spread the good word about this hs/f!
On my 3300-3400 P4 rig I use a Swiftech MCX478 and a Delta 80 x 38mm high rpm fan. This is actually the older hs/f, the MCX4000 is newer yet. I run the rig in a living room, approx. 24C and have 5 low rpm case fans.
Here's the deal, compared to my AMD rig with Thermaltake 7+ I have much higher case temps! I thought it was strange with all the case ventilation I have.
THEN reading the latest Prommy review I noted that the cooler temp went UP, but the cpu temp went down.
AH HAH!!!!!!!!!
Now I see it in my case too. The Swifty pulls so much heat out of the CPU that my case will hit 37C now, but my CPU will NOT go past 32C at 3340MHZ @ 1.65v Prime 95 for 1 hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like watercooling results to me...well almost;)
And yes I double and triple checked temp probes, compared MBM to BIOS, etc, etc. It's accurate.
Bottom line, MCX478, High rpm fan, AS3, firm contact pressure =
KICK A** AIR COOLER! And yeah for my $31 case too!

Are you using MBM?

What temps do you see in the BIOS before you boot to windows?

If you use the wrong sensor input in MBM it can create a large error in temps.

I carefully cross-referenced the temps in BIOS and the correct MBM sensor location/type. It's dead on! It's that good. It idles 24-26C and goes 27-28C under light load, 30C under 3dmk2001, and 32C under Prime95.

As long as the BIOS temps are from a cold boot, power off, straight to BIOS then thats fine. Sounds like you did a good cross check.
