Well ever since i've gotten this 9800 pro it hasnt been up to par on the performance end.

The card is a year old now and i just did a test on 3dmark05 and got 780.

This was when my cpu was overclocked to 3.5ghz.

i realized there was a problem with the speed of the agp bus. I could never tell if it was at 4x or 8x.

when i went to check today i see this

http://prc.deltaverse.com/9800.jpg

its a 0? is this why the performance sucks?

these are the specs to my system.

p4 2.8c M0 core 250x14 = 3.5ghz
msi neo 2 fis2r 2.4 bios
ocz el pc 4000
BBA 9800 pro 128mb
enermax cooler giant 485w ps

the agp voltage in the bois says 1.5v but its supposed to be at .8 volts. although i cant go below 1.5v.

if anyone has any light on this its appreaciated :D

i had the same problem on my 9700 pro when i change my fsb to 240 ( im on a AMD XP mobile) lol and i started to get artifacts etc , then i realised my agp rate was set to 0 , so i went into bios and set the default agp spd to 8 and then set my fsb backdown to 230 then i swapped the monitor round to my tv and the artifacts were gone and i could change the agp rate to 8x , dunno why this fixed it , it may be different in ur case , also all the :banana::banana::banana: i went through couldhave been a waste of time , it could have just needed a rest from all the thrashing i gave it, and i think 1.5 is the default agp voltage , since mine is anyway lol , and the reason you are probably getting 750 on 3dmark , is gunna be hugely rlated to the agp setting, i get 19k on 3dmark01 with my 9700 pro oc'ed and fsb set to maximum

i updated the chipset drivers and it still doesnt fix it.

there is no option in the bois to force 8x

i think the voltage for 8x is .8 volts and i am at 1.5.

i cant seem to figure this one out. If any of you senior members know a fix that would be appreacieated greatly :D

1.5v is normal for a 9800 PRO, a bit higher might even give you better stability.

thanks. :D

what i would like to know is if the fact that the agp bus is set to 0 does that affect performance?

i just did another test of 3d05 and got 532. :(

sometimes i cant even run 3d05. i get an error saying that it ran out of video memory!

Isn't there an agp force option in the omega drivers?

I've been outta the hole ATI drivers for a few months now, so I don't remember everything.

i downloaded the omega drivers. They seem to improve performance. I just did a 3dmark05 test and got 1475.

My agp rate is still 0. :( i am at 1.6 volts for the agp.

craig588 told you what to do. First you have to uninstall your current video driver, than install your chipset driver, than install again your ATI driver. This will enable your SMARGART option and push AGP Settings to 8x. I've had the same problem before.

Well i didnt read the instructions properly and i installed a new bois instead up the chipset drivers.

i installed the chipset drivers and everything is good to go. I am getting 2500 in 3dmark 05.

i'd like to thank everyone who helped me out. :D
