My current PSU is a thermaltake purepower 480W seen here silenhttp://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-153-007&depa=0t . Ive pretty much hit a wall at 4.0-4.1 ghz. The other day i tryed 247 fsb, for 4.2 shz, and it almost booted into windows, (saw my wallpaper and icons for a second). so, i upped the voltage one notch, as soon as i hit exit and save changes, the computer died, fans and all, just shut off. after clearing the CMOS by a jumper, it booted fine and no harm was done. I figured the whole system powered down like that because my PSU didnt have enough ballz to power all my power hungry components, especially when i tried to pump 1.6 volts through the already hungry prescott. So, my question is, would i be better suited with a new PSU, like OCZs 520W Modstream, or a Zippy 600W that has insane amps?
BTW, ive got like 4 case fans, 1 120mm radiator fan, the OTES fan, and all the stuff in my sig.

It probably would have rebooted after trying to load Windows. That's usually a sign of instability. If it can't handle the load I would imagine it's getting really hot. Check that, too.
That said, if you've got the money you might benefit from a better PSU. Check out Topower's 580W model if you can find it (it's identical to OCZ's 600W and quite a bit cheaper).

heat is definatly not a problem, as it only hits 40 degrees C under a load at 4.01 ghz with 1.46 Vcore.
*EDIT* also, maybe i didnt state that clearly, it DID reboot after failing to reload windows, so i upped the voltage one nothc and then after saving and exiting setup, it just powered off.

you say it might be your power suplly but could the wall possible be your chip? It could be at its max for ocing. My freind and i tried ocing a 2.2 intel when he first got his phase change so we knew how to install it right and not freeze the crap out of my mother board or his chip. we ended up getting to about 2.9-3 when it just wouldn't go any farther and that was on a pcpc 510 deluxe. So i say its your chip, but i may be wrong.

Thermaltake does not make PSU's.
Thermaltake rebrands crappy Super Flower PSU's and charges 50% more for the new paint job...
I love Tt cases, but their cooling and power solutions are worse than worthless!!

naw, its ready to go at much higher speeds, but the symptoms i had, like the whole system shutting down when i went past 1.6 on VCore, makes me think my PSU doesnt have the cojones to power all my hungry components. and from what ive seen here and read about thermaltake PSUs, its time to start saving for that OCZ Powerstream :D
