hey guys, i was wondering if there is a way to check the voltage taht the RAM is getting, cuz im trying to figure out why i cant run my ram in ddr, so i was wondering if there is a program for the k8neo2 plat. that will show all the voltages... any suggestions?

you cant run your ram in ddr? do you mean you cant run it in dual channel? if so thats nothing to do with the ram voltage its to do with what slots the ram is in

when i put it in the dual cahnnel slots, it freezes up on games, and the msi website says u may need to change voltages to ur rams needs, i was wanting to see what the voltage of my ram slots was to see if it was worth changing the slots and upping the voltage to see if it freezes or not

Those neos can be a bit of a pain, eh?

There are a number of threads on here you might want to read to help you get things going. Here's a small sampling :D

Here's one talking about prime95 and mem stability (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=46083)

Here's one I found that's hidden away in the "Best Of AMD" forum that might help you (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=43033&highlight=neo2+plat+vdimm)

And here's one if you start thinking about doing mods on your MB some day (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=41350&highlight=neo2+plat+vdimm). Even if you don't, since it's about modding, there's a fair chance it will have pics of where you can measure the memory voltage if you have a meter.

So you know, if you left click on the "Search button" at the top of the forums, you can usually root out some pretty good info where others have had similiar problems. Just have to pick the right thing to search for. To find the above 3, plus a ton more, just search for the words neo2 plat vdimm (just searching for neo2plat or neo2 plat would bring too many threads up). Then you can just look at the thread titles and pick ones that look like they might contain what you want. Neat, eh? Sometimes it's a bit of a flood of info you have to look through to find what you need, but you can learn a lot in the process.

Good luck with your system :toast:

No problem :D Just one other tidbit... there might be some info on MSI's site about Dual vs Single channel setup for your MB ;) A lot of times vendors don't put that much in the manuals, but rely on FAQs and updates via there websites for things people run into once users actually get the boards in their hands.

Peace :toast:

ya just looked at teh chart again, appears i have to have "single sided" ram to run ddr 400 in dual channel, otherwise its 333 .... GD!

Don't despair... vendor's also give you numbers they guarantee... not necessarily what something will OC to ;) If we went strictly by vendor ratings, there isn't a puter in my house that would work  (ok, maybe the floppy drives would... but that's about it :hehe: )

Be patient, read and absorb, and before you know it you'll have those babies humming right along.

Peace :toast:

ps. please, no initials! bro :shakes:
