Guys I am going to build a dedicated server for a LanParty for a friend. But I don't know what specs I should be looking for, if I should go AMD or Intel etc.

Can someone please help me?

It all depend on how large of a lanparty you are having.

There will be approximately 200 Players which I was think to divide on four servers, if this is enough. Games that will be played are HL2, UT2004, COD, CS, BattleField 1942, Medal Of Honour and maybe some others.

3000$ = buy two dual-xeon-systems. should give you more power than you need and after the lanparty you could use them for folding!

Look at getting 2 ASUS PC-DL motherboards, 4 LV D1 stepping Xeons and some nice heatsinks. Then get some OCZ Value VX RAM and mod the PC-DL for higher Vdimm  There's a nice guide on how to do all this in the D2OL section
