Hi,
can someone recommend a shop to assemble my new pc for cheap in the san ramon/dublin/pleasanton area? I called compusa and asked and they quoted $100 for this service. I have pretty much assembled everything, just the last few things needed and I would like a shop to make sure everything is setup correctly. I would like to spend less than $50 at the most. Thanks, Guardian.

What do you need to assemble? That's what I'd ask.

And what state?

maybe read some guides and do it yourself, usually some kind of guide comes with the motherboard.

What kind of questions do you have, what are you unsure about? Are you sure we couldn't just help you get it done yourself? :)

Well, I think I've got everything but the power and reset buttons hooked up, however, this is my first time assembling a pc. I have had a lot of trouble with it from installing the mobo(I bought my case 2nd hand so didn't come with screws) to not being able to get the video card to seat right. Its just that I am so afraid of breaking it or shorting something as I have poured money into it(over $1500 I would estimate). The powersupply was very confusing too and I think I must've missed something as there are only like 5 things hooked up. I have an x800xl, is there an extra power connector on it? I didn't see one but don't want to mess up as it cost almost $400 after tax and everything.

Whar kind of mobo is it you have, do you have the user's manual?
Who makes your X800XL? Some have power connectors, the majority don't I'm pretty sure....

ATI reference model x800xl. I have an abit aa8 duramax, have the usermanual, all 3 of em. Stupid confusing pos it is! Thanks for the help, Guardian.

The mobo manual should have the layout for all the jumpers you need like power, reset, leds, etc. If the ATI instructions don't show any power cables then you're probably fine. :) They would usually include a power cable or something with it anyway. I think you're really underestimating yourself bro, I don't think it's as complicated as you seem to think. Power it up and see what you get, we can go from there... :D

You said you got the case second hand and the video card doesnt seat 100% correctly? are you sure that you are using the correct mobo standoff if any? But I do agree with isp, I truely think you are understimating yourself here, I think you can easily get it up and running and save yourself a little money.. But as always double check everything and anything you are not sure of just post as a question here and Im sure you will get the answer.. Remember the only stupid question is the one not asked....

Yeah fire it up and see how you did setting it up. If you still have any questions before that feel free to ask.
I don't think anyone here minds helping someone get their feet wet and setup for the first time.

You were smart enough to create this thread in the right section and that's all we can ask.

Remember, if you don't have the standoffs installed correctly and the mobo is shorting against the case you will kill it.

I got the x800xl seated now. However, I don't know how to hook up the power and reset buttons on the case to the psu. Sorry im a n00b, just so afraid to break sompin.

The power and reset switches from the case? Is that what you're refering to? :)
They have hdd led, power led, etc... or have you done those and you're talking about something else?

If I understand you correctly, then those need to be connected to your motherboard...
Here is how the manual says they need to be connected:

I hope this helps you...
