So after some suggestions and great ideas from a fellow OCer( thanks Eradicator ;) ) I figured out how to keep from connecting my fan wiring into the PCs PSU. This makes it much easier to let the system do its pre-boot pull down without having to monkey with the PCs wiring. I also did a little bit of framing and insulating today. I hope to get the hold down made and insulated by tomorrow and get this thing on the PC, but it may not happen. As always there is a complication. I was putting the gauges on it today, and when I pulled the cap off of the high side shrader, it started hissing :( Of course when I tried to tighten the insert it stripped, so unless I am Xtremely® lucky and its the screw in piece that stripped, I have to braze a new shrader on  This inconvenience aside, I think the day was a success. Come to think of it, I think I will just tear that insulation back off real quick, braze in a new shrader, wrap the cap tube around the suction like it should be and change the filter while I'm at it :D Nothing like a little reactive maintenance right? :) And speaking of insulation, is it ok to tape it on like I have? I used electrical tape. I had to tape it somehow because I had to split it down its length to get it on there. Is my method ok?
Thanks

looks good how much was that 12v adapter?

I think it was around $14 from radio shack, but there are better(1000mA) ones on ebay for a little less. I was just in a hurry :D This one is only rated for 500mA, so I am limited to this one fan for now, and maybe some LEDs...
Thanks for the comments

How thick of insulation are you using on the return line? I have better luck with black duck tape than electrical tape.. Great work on the casing and glad to see the adapter worked :D

Hey also which schrader did you strip the high side or low side.. If it is the lowside and if i remember correctly you brazed it to your return line, I recommend you just cut the pipe and brase it shut and add you a new schrader to the factory filly port line sticking off the top of the compressor, Much more convenient and you dont have to worry about insuation... Just my suggestion

I was wondering if you could charge from the fill port. This is for vapor only, right? The reason I ask is I'm going to use r402a and I believe it is liquid charge only.
if ya get condensation on suction line add another layer.
i use 2 layers if doing cut in insulation.
but for 1/5 should be ok.
that case is just like mine. are you going to leave it open, or close it up.
really ya need atleast 19mm of insulaton on sution line for good suction line return temps. and seal the ends of insulation or ya get puddles in insulation.

Ok, so my 3/4 insulation is good enough then. I'm going to wrap the suction line in 1/8 foam tape, put on 3/4 insulation, and maybe wrap the outside in some more foam tape. It may be over kill, but at least I won't see condensation. Hopefully

Liquid charge still goes in the low side. walt

Jimi just remember my company Motto "Perfect or Better" do all your planning and work to that standard and you will have a system you can be extra proud of. Any body can buy a system, but it takes mechanic to build one with his own two hands

Thanks for the compliments guys :) As far as the shrader it was the high side unfortunately. Its no biggie though. Its fixed, leak tested, and being vacuumed as we speak. I also went ahead and wrapped the cap tube like it should be. I didnt change the filter though, I got lazy :D

Oh, I forgot to add that Im going to close the front and right side and make a plex side for the left hand side to match my case. Since I dont use the left side panel on my lian li(its a plexi side), I am donating the side panel to the phase case :D That way Ill have matching casings and windows http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v46/stockhatch/bbling.gif

Looking good, wrapping the cap tube like that will help your temps some.. Cant wait to see this thing in action..

Ugh. What a frickin nightmare. My rig is down till I can get some more tygon and reroute my water cooling stuff. The phase hose comes right through where my water pump was mounted, so Im putting my pump down below in the phase enclosure. This is a total pain from a real-estate standpoint. Also, Im not sure if my mounting technique is sound. Is there any way to tell if I am getting a good enough seal around the socket besides taking it apart? I ran the unit till it got cold then shut it down and didnt see any condensation anywhere.

Im going to build a lian li cube. That should solve this space problem.

How come the cap tube is outside the suction line. I thought that the cap tube went on the inside of the suction line?
I'm going to be putting my phase change in the same place Stockhatch, I think I'm going to have trouble with where my pump is positioned too. But I shouldn't have too much trouble though as I've got quite a bit of room for moving it.

Hey did you do the leaf trap mounting trick? Looks great!

Yeah I think thats a leaf trap :D Jimi, you dont have to run the cap through the suction, but some people put it inside the suction for convenience. The performance actually suffers ever so slightly unless its wrapped around the outside from what I hear.

If you wrap it on the outside, you can get more captube closer to the evap exit, i.e. closer to the colder temps compared to running it inside the suction line. I think if you could get the same amount of cap tube on the inside then you should be able to increase efficiency.

It's to do with the area that the captube has in contact with the cold gas, the area conducted through the outer suction line is greater than just the captube surface when run on the inside.

Well, the PC is reverted back to water cooling until I can get a case built. I just wasnt happy with the way the stack unit was turning out. Im waaaay to picky for this hobby. I have already started buying the materials for my cube case, so I hope to have this sorted out soon. On a positive note, the leaf trap mount seems to work pretty well. Im sure I got a nice seal, and it left a nice footprint so I know its getting good contact.

Leaf trap? any close pics or explanations of what that might be? Looks good by the way stockhatch...

Thanks. The leaf trap hold down is another Lardarse idea. You can see it here (http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=1627&s=1) in his guides. The one I used is slightly different. It is much thicker PVC and had a screw on metal grate as opposed to the pop up type his had. Same principal though :)

Man that is looking so good. Good idea and design on using the L bar for a frame.
