Well, it's been almost a week now since I had an unfortunate BIOS flash on my ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe motherboard. I used ASUS Update tool in Windows XP, allowed the software to download the BIOS from the ASUS website, and it proceeded with flashing the BIOS. Everything was fine, the program told me that it was safe to restart my computer, so I did. When I restarted, the computer turned on but nothing happened, the monitor does not post. There is no beep message either to tell me what the error is. I tried clearing the CMOS, I moved the jumper and removed the battery time after time, but I had no luck. I tried removing different components to see if I could find the problem, but I had no luck either. After talking to ASUS on the phone, they sent me a BIOS Chip for free which came in the mail today. I carefully removed the previous chip, and put the new one in its place. I once again moved the jumper and removed the battery, and then I placed them back into their spots and booted the machine.
Same damn thing!?! I am still getting no post. What the hell could have possibly happened? It's a routine BIOS flash, why would the motherboard just stop working? It's odd though, because everything in the computer turns on. All the fans, my watercooling pump, everything. If I put my hand on the northbridge heatsink or even my radiator I can feel that the computer is running, because it feels as warm as it usually runs.
Does anyone have any idea whatsoever on what may be wrong with my board? Help would be greatly appreciated, and this may be the last time I buy an ASUS board if a BIOS flashed killed it.
