with that motherboard, I wouldn't get my hopes up too high, its a ok board, but no where near as good as NF boards are for 939.

yea, the board wouldnt of been my first choice by a long way tbh. apart from that everything seems ok for good overclocks.

OFFTOPIC
--------------
I see you had an FX51...
is it still worth to buy it?

An Opteron 150 or 152 would be much better and the 150 would be for about the same price as the FX51. OC'ing on S940 isn't too terribly good anyhow, with the registered ECC ram and the latencies that go along with that.

I thought i had a nice mobo for OC,seems not...I will wait and see how far i can get....with my CPu OC,,,,,

What difference wil it make if i get a different mobo...

And what mobo is the best for my system.....and why?

Thks again...

The difference between a succesfull overclock and a silly one lies in the strenght of your weakest link in the chain :)

It may be a difference of 80MHz FSB if you're unlucky :D

The DFI would be best I guess. Why? Because you can clock waaaaay higher then with mobos like that Abit :)

Owh yeah, if you want to have AGP, then the MSI will be suited to your needs :)

Nice setup. I would've gone with a DFI myself but whatever floats your boat :p:

And WOW 80MHZ FSB

Ehm dunno if you're sarcastic now or not  :p:

Anyway, with some bad luck he won't take the Abit much higher then 220MHz, while he may be able to do 300MHz on the DFI. So yeah, that'd be a lot ;)

It's computerhardware running out of spec m8. Noone will ever be able to tell you how far you can go :)

Remember also that a good overclock stands or falls with the weakest link of the chain. With killer-HW but a POS-psu, you should not expect much (FOR EXAMPLE :) dunno your PSU). Also, youself could be the weakest link ;) (but hey, that's why we are here to help :toast: )

My advice to Athlon64OC since day one was to look into purchasing a good PSU. I see you've purchased another case/PSU combo, but we have yet to see how your new PSU performs since it looks to be another generic unit thrown in with the case.

Since you just purchased an Ultra-D, you will now realize the importance of having a good power supply.

They have stats on it here, doesn't look too good to me.

I would go for at least the neopower (http://www.antec.com/specs/Neo480_spe.html) or better yet a pcp&c 850 (http://www.pcpowerandcooling.com/about/index_whatnew850.htm)

That Psu is good enough.....
It got the same stuff as the Tagran 480W

No it isn't..

I'd suggest something like a Fortron or something... They're relatively cheap ($70ish)..

Why people continue to cheap out on PSUs is beyond me.. I believe it is one of the most critical components..

I agree whole heartedly agree. The #1 selling power supply at Micro Center Westmont, when it was realeased, was the Ultra X-Connect. The power supply that nearly caught fire in the MaximumPC Labs.

The worst part is that for $20 more they could have had the NeoPower 480.

It only has 29 amps on the 12v. The Zippy PSM-6600P-SATA has 46 amps. The NeoPower has 34 amps.

I did not mean to sound sarcastic. 80MHZ FSB= 40MHZ on the memory    (well for me it does, don't know about you ....)

So 40MHZ on memory is a lot! espesially when seen bandwidth wise ..
