I know nothing of what to look for in a digital camera.

Can anyone suggest a fairly decent camera for around $120 with like 3MP or more and can take fairly clear close ups or this that somewhat of an unrealistic request?

Any info is appreciated, thanks

Sorry if this is the wrong section, but yeah I don't exactly know where else to put it :stick:

I would have to recommend a Nikon camera. I bought my Nikon Coolpix 2000 years ago for $250. Look on ebay, they go for like $100, or maybe even less. The camera in my opinion is worth every dime.

The camera is for close ups. Now that I am used to handling it I can take succesful pictures in a fairly large room, but it's not really an outside camera. It is excellent for close up pictures. I use it to take pictures of all the stuff I trade.

Not only is it great for taking pictures, but it also works as a flash drive. WITHOUT DRIVERS, just plug it into your computer via the USB cable, and you can transfer files to and from the compact flash disk. I've never had any problems with it. The drivers are only for doing little editting, but MSPaint, and Photoshop easily beat it.

My cousin got a fairly new Kodak for Christmas. Comparing it to mine it's not very nice. The rotating selector at the top to choose between the different settings is smooth on mine, and on his it snaps, and is hard to move. Even his little brother who is used to the Kodak said "Wow, this is nice" when using mine. Mine also has lower specs than his.

It's neat, you can store ANYTHING on the flash card. I've put music on it to put on another computer. Just get a nice big 1gb flash card and you're in business!

So I would recommend something like the Nikon Coolpix 2000. I dont know the other models, but you can't go wrong with Nikon. Good luck. :)

Thanks for the reply man :D Much appreciated.

Canon and Nikon have come from many people with high recommendations, and one of the other mods at the forums I mod took a picture with his Canon Powershot A85 at a PCB board and it was a very clear close up pic, easily reading the numbers on the resistors, so I convince my dad to buy that one at $239.99

Thanks for the suggestion :)

Samples of my old-trusty 2MP Canon Powershot A60 - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=694875&postcount=6:D

Powershot line is excellent for macro/close-up shots... Go for it, but like you said, get A75/A85 if you can ;)

Can't praise the Canon line enough, most of their point and shoot models are excellent

I'd recommend you check out Steve's Digicams and research the model you're interested in: http://www.stevesdigicams.com
