My Specs: P4 1.8A
Asus P4S533
Gainward GF4 Ti4200 128Mb
512 PC3200 Corsair XMS

My Overclock:
2610Mhz (145/36) @1.575Vcore

The Question: How high can i push the Vcore, if at all, and should i expect to see very much more speed?

Thanks in advance.

First : Welcome to Xtreme.

I wouldn't go higher than 1.70V with aircooling. Temps go up pretty fast with simple aircooling. Stay under 1.70V and you should be safe.
2610 @ 1.575V is very nice. With a bit of luck, you might be able to reach 2.8-2.9Ghz. Only bottleneck to that might be your board. SIS boards aren't very good overclockers.
Try 150FSB and see if it's stable at that speed.
Good luck.

thanks! :D

yeah i know, i was unfortunatly misinformed about my purchase, i knew something was wrong when my freind said SiS, but he talked me into it, i spent 4 months just trying to get all the bugs worked out of the board, and it still acts up from time to time...

ok im going to try for 150, someone told me 1.7 was ok, but i was a little worried, i just hope my pci can handle it. thanks, ill let you know how it goes :)

ok i got it to 147 but thats only like a 50mhz increase and i had to raise the vcore too 1.7, i think thats a bit much if i can run @ 1.5 at only two fsb lower. thanks for your help, maybe if i got a new mobo, but i think im ok for now :), now for my video card :D

If you dont want to kill your chip ever then stay @ 1.7 or below. Me?? I start at 1.7 and go up.

If you cant afford to lose the chip, then easy on the volts.

I've cranked my 2.8 over 2 volts to see if i could get higher. But anything over 1.68 didnt make a difference.

Now my 1.6a's been going @ 1.93 volts since February. @ 2.91ghz. I can get it to 3.1ghz with 2.05 volts. @ 1.7 volts I cant get more than 2.5 out of the chip. This chip has a pack date of DEC 01.

When u switch that pin, all vcore value in BIOS will be added 0.2v to let u maximize vcore to 1.9v instead of 1.7v. for example, after switching that pin, if u choose 1.7v in BIOS, it will be 1.9 actually. U can u software to check that actual vcore.

Does asus have online owners manuals? I ordered a retail board but after my second RMA they only gave me the OEM one, so i dont know where to look for this pin.:(

i did 1.9v on stock cooling, it gain me 10mhz from 1.7v. My 2.0a do 2.66 (133mhz) with 1.7v, 2.86 (143mhz) with 1.9v, all on stock cooling.
your 1.8a can get as high as my 2.0a :)
