Hey guys got a question for ya!
Just bought the Epox NF2 mobo and a pci raid card to go with it. I've set both HDs to master like the istructions stated but it only regonizes the second master hard drive on the card. Are there any setting in mobo BIOS that I have to turn on or off to get it to recognize the first hard drive?
Thanks

It would help if you gave more info. What card did you buy, are you using 2 ide cables (I hope so).

I purchased the HP RocketRaid 1520 SATA Raid card and I'm using 2 SATA to IDE convertors for the two 120g WD SE harddrives.
So I'm using 2 sata cables...

I have the 1540 card. You need to make sure that both have power and that both are plugged in all the way. When you hit Ctrl H only 1 drive is showing up?

Yes, no matter which HD I plug in it always shows up as "Secondary Master" and the doesn't regonize the other.

Just a thought could it have anything to do with my DVD and CDR being plugged into IDE 1 and IDE 2 both as Master?

have you tried different plugs on the card? i believe it has 4.
i don't think your dvd and cdrw would affect anything on the raid card.

No it shouldn't affect it at all, unless you have the jumpers in the wrong place then it is possible. If you take drive 1 (we will call one of the drives drive 1 and the other drive 2) If you take drive 1 and plug it in to slot 1 and the other into slot 2 which drive shows up in the bios? Now take the drive that didn't show up in the bios and plug it into the same spot as the drive that did register. Make sure you use the same cable and converter. Now reboot and see if that drive shows up Ok. Post back let me know the results.

oh oops. should've read more carefully.
if you haven't already, double check the hard drives. make sure they are both working. and then start swapping cables and adapters. maybe one of them is bad.

When I say same plug and converter I mean leave the plug and convertor on the drive when you move it. If it doesn't show up take the plug and cable off the drive that did register and put it on the drive that didn't. Reboot and post results.

I think it might be a problem with the second port, it doesn't read anything on it. I'm not sure if something has to be plugged into the first port to make the second work, but that wouldn't really make since.

No it doesn't. You can plug it into either port. Did you verify that the drive, cables, convertors all work on the first port. That way it will eliminate all the factors and than it would have to be the card.

Thanks everyone for your help...I switched out one of the included convertor with the one included with my abit AT7-MAX2 and it works now...
Very strange seeing how I tried both convertors and cables that came with the card and they worked...I must have messed up somewhere along the way testing the cables and convertors :D
