All,
I'm working on improving my 3dmk2001 scores. I'm getting use to my new Intel rig, after amd for awhile. Never got very much experience with 3dmk2001, so I'm new at it. I've tried to read some basics on MO's website but it's info overload. I just need a few BASICS. I can run my 2.66 at 20 X 150 = 3000 for 15,173.
I just installed ATI's newest R9700 drivers. Faster I get a hard lock up on low detail car chase. Have to reset the pc. vcore at 1.54, vdimm at 2.6v. Specifically, how should I set up the info in Radeons "settings menu" Are hard locks like this from memory, heat, overclocked core, etc, etc.
My temp is excellent 30C or less.
I don't need the tips that get you from 19,686 to 20,011!!!
I just need a few basics to hit and clobber 16k or 17k
P42.66,albatronPX854PEV,CorsairPC3200C2, swiftyw/delta,R9700,TTGI520PSU
Any ideas?

Edit: tried 3121mhz and upped vcore to 1.62v and made it through car chase and in dragothic, ir rebooted????
What's that mean? AND what about this agp/pci stuff? Lock it at 66/33 or let it fly with the fsb and mem??

What are your memory settings? The Corair PC3200 C2 is good memory and should allow you some high oc.
Hard locks may be caused by different things (memory settings, cpu oc'ed to high, etc...). Maybe increasing the VCore to 1.60V might help you.
In the Direct3D settings of the 9700, set all the sliders to the left (Optimal performance) en turn VSync OFF. I think that the 6193 drivers are the best ones for 3DMark. I haven't tried the newer ones though. Perhaps, they're better.
In the BIOS, let the AGP/PCI set at "fixed" 66/33. The 9700 doesn't seem to like high AGP speeds.

Jupiler,
thanks for the response. I got it to run at 3121by unlocking the agp/pci lock and allowing 77/38???? With it locked, no dice even at 3020. I tried 3141 with 1.68vcore, 2.8vdimm, mem by spd(cas2, 3,6,3) agp unlocked (78/38) it was an easy 16K run, saw 360fps peak in dragothic...with 10sec left in Nature...reset!!!!!
My BIOS is a bit strange, I'm used to Abit AMD stuff and all this is new. cpu:agp ratio? I left it on auto. agp:pci ratio, mem ratio 1.50, 2.0, 2.5, 2.66X I used 2.66 on my 3dmk2001 runs, I think the max mem was 418?? Runs cool, Prime95 at 32C. I'll look at the sliders inside ATI menu and try out "performance" settings over "quality" ones. Can you describe the relationship of cpu/pci/agp timings and their effect on performance, when extra gpu clockspeed and mem bandwidth is used or needed??
thanks
C
