I have a old dell and i am building a new pc. I would like to salvage the non crap parts like the floppy and perhaps soundcard. To do this would i need to get drivers from somewhere to operate them?

I am getting an Abit Fatal1ty AA8XE and this has onboard 7.1 sound. Should i use the old soundcard and will the new motherboards onboard sound be better because it is newer and a quality mainboard and the card in the dell is old. (A Creative SB Live!) Which would be best?

The main priority is the floppydrive

Many thanks Nick B

Yeah there is absolutely nothing wrong with using the onboard sound, actually I would prefer it over using a PCI sound card.

Keep the dell together and use it as a second machine, just remove the floppy from the dell. It'd probably make a nice 2nd machine if the specs are decent.
