Just seeking some input on the setting in BIOS. Default is 32.

I started having stability problems when running at 200 FSB or above with relaxed mem timings and 2.9 - 3.1 vdimm. The thing is , I could run SAndra MEM burn-in for hours without a halt or reboot ( high priority / 100 on the cpu ). But... when playing online , I would always get a hard mem ERRROR BSOD .I was so impressed with my benchmarks I tried tweaking some in BIOS.

I increased the PCI LAtency CLK from 32 to 64. Not a single crash since. The thing is , the SAndra scores are slightly down.

CAn someone tell me what exactly this setting effects and possible better settings?

I believe by raising this number, you've increased the packet size of information to be allowed to pass through the ram at once. I could be wrong here, but I think that's what that is. you'll have to go to Epox's website to see if you can find out what allowable settings are available for that and what each setting does.

Latency clocks are the maximum number of bus cycles that a device can hog the controller before allowing the controller (NB and/or SB) to service another device. Since the controller is single-threaded, mission-critical devices have typically high "latencies" and less important devices have low latencies.

For instance, check out the latency set for your video card. Typically high, since the user perception of smooth video is considered mission critical by the board designers.

Thank you Sjohnson, when I read this the first time, I mostly knew the answer but was pulling a brain fart and couldn't spit it out:(
