Ya, its me again asking for comments on yet another possable setup, hopefully you all ant fed up with me yet and hopefully there wont be many more of these posts from me before i finaly make up my mind..

Found a place selling these for £109 on offer untill monday/tuesday which seems like a good price.

Would that be any good teamed up with a DFI Lanparty 925X-T2(£145) and a OCZ 1GB DDR2 PC2-5400 Performance Series Dual Channel Kit(£174) for some low(ish) cost Intel OCing madness ?

if your going low cost, why not s754 and a sempron?

becuse agp 6600 GTs are upto £50 more then their PCI counterparts, hence pretty much wiping out the saveing over a 939 based setup, same applys to intel to, its not worth it to go AGP if your wanting a 6600 GT as the saveing you make on getting a AGP board bites the dust when you have to spend more on the gfx card.

Seems that the DFI Lanparty 925X-T2 has some serious problems with the PCI lock issue (according to posts on DFI Street anyway)may stick with the Asus 925XE board for the intel config, as that it would apear has no such problems, was thinking about the Abit AA8XE but that it would apear doesnt like OCZ memory.. which is annoying as the price of the OCZ stuff is realy good here.

Ok so think ive finaly got a good intel option now, that hopefully will be the final one, still have yet to finalize the AMD option though.

Asus P5AD2-E-Premium
Intel Pentium 4 630
OCZ 1GB DDR2 PC5400 Performance Series Dual Channel Kit
MSI NX6600GT - TD128E GeForce 6600 GT
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 160GB SATA
NEC ND3520 DVD Writer
PCP&C Turbo-Cool 510W Express

How likely would i be to hit the magic 4Ghz mark with this setup ?

That OCZ PC5400 Performance Series is terrible DDR2 ram.

Other the other hand, the OCZ PC2-4200 DDR2 EB Limited Edition Rev2 is GREAT.

Well i was originally going to get some Crucial Ballistix DDR2,but found the OCZ to be a bit cheaper so would i be better off with the Ballistix ?

The OCZ EB Limited Edition stuff is somewhat out of my budget for memory (around £200 or less)

As far as mobos go i was originally going for the AA8XE(non fatality) which is a hell of alot cheaper then the Asus but ive heard of lots of compatibility problems with various RAM,at least untill you update the bios it seems, which of corse you cant do unless you have some ram that works on the stock bios. So anyone able to clarify this situation ?

After thinking about it for a bit im thinking i may be better off overall performance and overclocking wise if i replaced the 630 with a 550 (04B) to take advange of the CPU Unlock of the P5AD2-E. Thoughts ?

550 loses you 64-bit...might be nice now that Windows XP 64 just went RTM a few days ago. Just something to think about.
