This may sound dumb, but if you only want to achieve a reasonable overclock, something past water-cooling, but dont want to freeze your whole board, can you configure/adjust your system to get the lowest temp you need?
What if you want to hold your cpu@+-0c? Of course give fully loaded cpu variables and all it will go lower or higher.
I plan on useing R290 again and because of my current board I can't insulate as well around the socket as I believe it needs.
I just figured if the temps were'nt all that low the cold would'nt spread that far.
But if any one knows where to find those flat heating elements to go around the socket please post it/pm.

those heating elements (i think) are just wire with different wattage ratings i think you want about 3 watts a foot or something, im sure you can keep a constant temp i think you need a thermostat control, im sure you can borrow one from a freezer since freezers are commonly operating at 0C lol
if you can make an direct die that evaporates @ 5° your set.
this only needs minor insulation, and you wont need a strong compressor to get those temps.
R290 would be good but not the reason for -70 but just 5°.

Hard to build one of these with no experience?

well you can use an EPR andan HGB to make the evap temp adjustable and still get returngas to the compressor to cool it.

Just took a look at the Stickies. SOunds cheap, kind hard but im sure my neighbor has most of the tools so maybe that will be my next project

EPR?
HGB?
Please forgive noobishness of terminology :rolleyes:

EPR= evaporator pressure regulator
HPB= hot gas bypass
