Currently got some Winbond 3200 (with BH-5 Chips) Which are actually quite good overclockers... 200fsb Aggressive timings, and about 220 Relaxed.

I am looking to upgrade to some new PC3500 memory, so i'm looking for some opinions on both... pro's & con's, etc

If you have some PC3500, let me know what brand you have, best speeds / timings / volts, etc and what mainboard...

I'll be running it on an Epox 8k9a2+

My TwinMos -5ns winbond chips hits 218fsb cas2, 2t with everything else maxed out. This is with only 2.75v. I think I could hit that same mark with 1t if I gave in 3.0v or more. I top out at 1t at 210.

It just might be your board not liking the winbond chips.

Who makes your -5ns module? Possibly the PCB that the chips are laying on causing the performance hit.

A-Data PCB i do believe mate...

Nothin wrong with the memory TBH, as ive only had this board a day, and not even pushed it... i just want to upgrade :)

Well I can tell ya the Corsair XMS3500 uses the same winbond chips that you have now.

For Amd systems I think you already have the best chips going.

Yeah the 5ns Winbond is nearly as good as it gets on AMD boards. Could always try some OCZ if you want, or there is the option of Geil as well which is meant to work well in AMD chipsets. Their PC3500 is 4.5ns as well as is OCZ's enhanced latency memory!

Have a look here: http://www.pc-memory-upgrade.co.uk/

I have no experience with Geil and 1 time with OCZ last year that wasn't a pleasant one but they have seemed to get their act together.

My friend across the country as a 512 Geil stick with the -4.5 chips and says they don't compare to his XMS3200 which has the -6ns chips.

The problem I have with Geil and OCZ is the lack of reviews based on a Amd board.

You might say I'm biased towards OCZ (I'm biased towards any great performer) however; I've owned/own Corsair, Crucial, and Kingston as well. I've been using OCZ's PC3200 since April, and their PC3500 since October, and have yet to have any stability problems overclocking or otherwise. The following link to a page from a review by BlargOC has OCZ's PC3500 overtaking RDRAM PC1066! And the OCZ is running at 2.6V CAS.2:
www.blargoc.co.uk/reviews/oczpc3500/page4.shtml
Here's an AMD based review of OCZ (although it's an Eastern European (I think) site) the graphs are prima-facie:
http://www.nvidia.pl/articles.html?0026-05
By the way, I concur with it being difficult to find an OCZ AMD based review. I'll keep searching for ya. By the way I'm expecting an 8K9A in two days, and will OC the Hell out of my 2400 XP & OCZ DDR433, I'll reply with a full set of benchies.

Its no mystery OCZ runs great on a Intel platform but lets see some results with some Amd boards. Bet ya only a handful can run the stuff with a good OC.

I have a BE7 coming in a few days with a 1.6A that does 2.7 on air so I've very interested in how my TwimMos will work. Can't wait.

RacerX1 Is that the P4 1.6A that almost reached a double overclock? I found this review, using Twin-mos RAM and your P4 1.6A:

Dam impressive; they don't make them anymore? Alomost a Gig overclock on air, that's a serious chip!

ryanpgroovy, I'm not saying your OCZ is bad at all and yes you showed me this link before. Lets see some of your highend stuff on a Amd board like a KX7 or AT7 max2?

Can that be arranged?

If it works I'm all for it.:D

C'mon show us some nice scores with the AT7 MAX2 running OCZ EL PC3500 Ryan. :)

Here's a stick of OCZ 3200 Rev2 on my KD7 doing 215 with maxed timings. Fact is it will do anything my Corsair 3500 will do on this mobo.

Geez, talk about calling out the big dogs!:D

No doubt amazing numbers I just wish OCZ would just have more reviews with Amd platforms.

I would like to see other reviewers insight. Lets face it Opp and Randi are in a different class with different cooling and mods and so forth.

I might just have to look into purchasing a stick for my new Intel setup. Thanks guys.

RacerX1,

Your memory will run very high on the BE7, I think it's one of the easiest memory overclocking mobos out there when you use the 4:5 Ratio. Where talking high Mhz at most agresive timings, it's a fun mobo. I did do a mem mod on her though:D I'm getting memory to run at 240Mhz CL2 5-2-2, OCZ being one of them.

Have Fun :)

thanks Opp, I figured my TwinMos would work well but if I want to go with 2 systems then I will need more sticks.

I will first test the BE7 with my TwinMos and see what happens. I know the vdimm maxed out at 2.7v, do you have a mod to increase it?

Thanks

Ryan:)

You're welcome my friend. WE don't BS around when it comes to product that performs, no matter the manufacturer. OCZ is now making some of the best ram on the market that runs with the best, and I'll be the first one to dispell the previous horror stories and let folks know that the new OCZ is making a mark on the performance computing hobby with top notch DDR and support. Kudo's for turning this company around my friend!! We look foward to your future product offerings as DDR technology progresses:)

Hey, Victor Chu is a Great guy, he gets me motherboards quick, like this KD7, he got me this mobo when It first came out. It took Abit a good 3 weeks after that to get me one:D

I've had great luck with my OCZ PC3200 Rev2 stick. Its gone as high as any CPU I have. The highest I've gotten is Just DDR452, but I figure my CPU ran out of gas before the ram did. I just today took my Geil PC3500 Platinum Ultra stick to DDR450 2-7-2-2 and it handled it just fine. Mind you, that was at -10C.
