Right , we ll I finally got my NCCH-DL built up and powered up only to find that it doesnt detect the second processor. So I changed the proccessors over to check that they both work....they do. So I then flashed to the latest BIOS 1004. Still no joy. So I contacted the techi support of where I purchased the board from and they said to check the steppings are the same. Well this is my first foray into Intel steppings so Im not entirely sure whats what.

Here is what I have on each CPU

Top: 4429A809
0565

Bottom:
2800DP/1M/800
SL7HF COSTA RICA
3428A705-1225

Second CPU

Top: 4429B707
1474

Bottom:
2800DP/1M/800
SL7HF COSTA RICA
3428A705-1225

Now the question is are they compatible or is it the board at fault ?

What coolers are you using? If you're using one where the metal plate is attached to the back of the motherboard, try following this thread...

Sounds like the exact same problem I ran into twb.

Seems they are the same stepping according to Intel.

I have 2 metal plates that stick to the case that the processors actually screw down to. The funny this is when I power up the board the second processor it doesnt get warm at all. Could it be earthing like that thread said ?

Just had a look and the socket is nowwhere near the board so I see no evidence of it earthing out. Looks like I need a call to ASUS.

Try adding some nylon washers or even electrical tape to the screw holes and then just snug the screws. If this helps, then yep. ;)

BTW, I had someone PM me saying his NCCH-DL suffered from that problem too.

Ops, just read your next message. I'd still try to fireup the board without those back plates... just to make sure. ;)

What's the vcore? maybe you should try abit higher vcore at least that helped when my vcore was 1.68 my second cpu wouldn't show up show I gave i abit more juice, voila my second came back alive :D

Vcore on this CPUs is 1.3-1.4 it seems. To power up without the backplates means I have nothing to attach teh heatsinks to.....can they just rest on there.

Called ASUS in the states (through Skype) but they said they were closed (not sure what time it is there) tried Germany but my German is non existant. So I finally found a UK number but they were just for notebooks but he tried to help anyway and said that the board should just detect it straight away. Called where I got the board from and they dont help, but RMA turn around is 5 days.....Ive already been waiting a week for this thing due to overclockers.co.uk messing me around......Im getting the hump.

Im only using an ANTEC 330 PSU but I currently have nothing attached to it apart from the mobo so I dont think its a power issue. I do only have a 20pin connector (not a 24) and a 4 pin to go in the 8 pin slot. Could that be the issue ? Do I need the 8 pin to power up both CPUs ?

Problem sorted, I required the 8pin to be connected for 2nd processor to be found. Lets get going. Just noticed the board only goes to 233 in the Bios.....so I dont think much more than 3.2 will be possible.....if I do Oc it....

well, glad you got the 2nd proc problem sorted out. even at "only" 3.2, you would still have a very productive cruncher. :toast:

Im only using an ANTEC 330 PSUPermanently? Even with no other devices attached, I'd suggest a beefier supply, especially if you want to do some overclocking . . . but hey, if it runs it runs ;)

BTW you can bypass the 233FSB limit with clockgen, but if the NCCH-DL is anything like the PC-DL it probably won't go past ~230-240 anyway :(

Forgot to say that I went out and bought a Tagan 480 PSU with the 8pin and 24pin connectors.

Glad it's fixed... this may be something to note in the guide. :toast:

Well I left the box running, had to tweak a little, couldnt resist, and its doing 14x210 at the moment with no touch of voltage so its a little oced right now. Im not back there until Friday now but it should turn in some cands as it will be on 24/7. What can I expect a day from 2x 2.95ghz Noconas running four instances ?

Wonder if the 64emt thingy will make any difference to cands ?

Not sure about production... I think you're the first person here to have Noconas. Let us know how you make out.

Lucky bugger has Noconas

On a side note, I noticed your avatar and is that you on the rear wheel there? Have you seen the Video called Vegas Xtreme or something like that, anyway was all filmed here in town (some actually on the strip) all local guys doing crazy stuff, utterly amazing

We will now return to our regularly scheduled thread :D

Yeah thats me on the rear wheel , on the ZX7R I can get into 2nd gear and most of the way through it, just cant quite find the balance point.

My best wheelie was on a Fazer 1000, I hoiked her up from 15mph and covered 1/2 a mile on the back wheel, landing down in 3rd gear at about 125mph, I could have gone further but I ran out of road, there was some nice smoke off the front tyre on landing. No I havent seen vegas xtreme, I will keep an eye out for it though.

The noconas seemed to put about 150 between 9 this morning and 5 this afternoon give or take 10-20. Ive added them as part of a bigger node.
