Anyone know a way to limit to a maximum set bandwidth?

Everytime a machine uploads I cant access the net until its done uploading.. really annoying on 56k :(

hmm just let it buffer up and let it upload when you dont use the net maybe?

Very good point...
Let it buffer all day and dump it when you go to bed...

EDIT: Silly me... I just repeated what you said, Enzor

Thats the obvious answer, but i'm looking for a more permanent solution..

Wouldn't even half of your dial-up's upload bandwidth gonna choke your modem anyway? I think that's what I remember from dial-up days. Even when I was uploading at half the available upload bw (e.g to very slow FTP server) it was still impossible to browse Internet... Very annoying indeed.
That solution might be your only easy solution.

dont know whats all behind the "D2OL upload" (:))
i also dont know how much upload u get.

but i know a prog, its called "netlimiter"
u could set your max down and upload speed for every prog u are running on your computer.

well I can upload to people/ftp's/whatever fine.. but when D2OL decides to upload its all stop... even causes MSN/Trillian/Y!/mIRC to drop connections and stuff.

netlimiter is the only thing i know of that can limit your badwidth and such, unless youre running a router inwhich case you could look up some new firmware for it and flash that in. I know for sure there is firmware hacks for most linksys routers and probably just about every other one too.

Yup
netlimiter is they way tog o. I run it to keep e LOT of things in pace and not going overboard on the bandwidth usage

runs very nicely :)
