Noticed that the P5AD2-E Premium has 6xx series support from bios version 1004 however im wondering how you would go about updateing the BIOS if you bought one of those CPUs and the board becuse odvisly to get the board to boot you need the CPU and i assume from the factory that the board dosnt have 1004 installed, so how are you ment to use the board with your shiny new 6xx P4 if it doesnt support it out of the box or am i missing something

It should boot, but probably doesn't have the Microcode to run the newer features of the 6xx cpu's (EM64T support...etc..etc?)

Id imageine that was the case, but you never can be to carefull, ive enough experience of computers to know that sometimes assumeing that something will work becuse it would be stupid for it not to can result in much flustration and urge to kill small fluffy animals in brutal ways... or maybe thats just me :D

You can also install the new bios at the first boot-up. Download bios 1004 onto a diskette, rename(follow instructions) and when the system starts-up hold ALT-F2. ALT-F2 brings you into EZBios and then program will load the new bios for you.

Just fyi - the BIOS update needs to be renamed as "p5ad2xe.rom".
