This is a bit off topic, but I would recommend you that get a Radeon 9500 PRO. It will soon be in store and its price is about the same as those of Ti4200-8x/Turbo. However, its performance is in the Ti4600 range or even better in some cases.

There are many reviews that have proven Albatron's Ti4200 Turbo is a very bang for buck v/card.... Perhaps your sample is just defective....?

I have a Gainward 4600 Golden Sample. They are the highest overclocking 4600 card on the market that I know of. They come with hand picked/tested ram and GPU guaranteed to overclock higher than the regular 4600 boards. It even comes with a nice overclocking utility that has 2 dials and you can set it to default performance, or adjust the mem and gpu seperately.

dissolved, when you were not happy with your albatron @ what, 330 750? you wont be happy with the gainward either... i dont know about those new gainward cards, all i can say is i bought a g2mx golden sample from them, and it was the best g2mx card ever... it had 3.5ns memory on it! i had it running 250/250 for a long time with no mods or ectra cooling, and didnt oc higher because that ocing tool wouldnt go higher than 250. i used a bios editor and got the memory up to 325 without any mod! thinking that this card is more then 1 year old thats not bad @ all....

i really dont understand why you dont keep that albatron card. if you want more performence get a 9700 or 9700pro...

im not a fan of ATI really, plus the board i saw, they had the power connector right next to the ram So if you plugged it in you couldnt have ramsinks.. kinda a Dumb ass idea i think. And i wanna OC. So no ramsinks means it probly wont oc that good.

I haven't OC my card in a while since I've been working on my radeon and my new prometeia. I want to say 315/720 around there. I have the 750 card though. the 4x not the 8x.

I'm not an ati fan neither, and i think that this puppy even not oc'ed will still be faster than a 4600. But it's up to you to choose

You had my curiosity going so I ran a couple of benches and it just ran a 15200 @ 320/734. I'll step up the settings and see if it is stable, let you know. As far as the 9500 goes I heard it is a great card, but if you are a serious gamer I've also heard that a lot of people are having problems on certain games with the new ATI cards. I personally like my 9700, except for the fact that they run the ram so hot, which means that it is basically maxed out.

don't you think the ram on the 9500pro will have some room for oc?
I really wish i haven't bought my 4400 and waited for the 9500pro

That depends on what type of ram they used. (speed) I think the radeon uses Samsung 3.5ns chips. I guess I will just have to grab the card out of the shop and check. (sealing it for new pelt/waterblock and its drying) let you know what kind of ram there using. What is the 9500 using and what are the stock clock settings?

well the 9500 is only 199 per-order Which seems Really cheap since the 9700 pro is like 345.

So i dunno anything about ATI.. but..

1. there drivers seem to always suck for a while for new cards
2. not sure what memory the 9500 uses, so dummo how it would oc.
3. dunno when its gonna come out..
