I really like the LanParty line of MBs but I am just about to give up on DFI ever releasing the 925XE-T2 which I badly need. I am thinking of making a change to the Abit Fatal1ty AA8XE...thoughts?

Happy with your choice to try the Fatal1ty AA8XE? What is your max FSB?

so far i could get it up to 296 but i suspect that was more my cpu than anything my new cpu arrives tomorrow and im going to try and push it higher.

ive really liked the voltage options it has. i got a bit of an increase from upping the nb voltages then hit a brick wall which i think was my cpu since i hadnt put alot on the nb and additional voltage increses didnt seem to help at all. and im still not entirely sure about a couple of the options like the fsb vtt

in all honesty im still playing with it as ive only had it for about 5 days and ive had to work most of that and had a problem with the crappy pqi memory i was running in it so i got some new ocz pc2 4200 eb to play with it and new cpu arriving tomorrow and ill start anew with it.

did you get the 1Gb or 2Gb kit for the OCZ pc2 4200 eb rev2?

what was your max FSB with that memory? did you get above 260?

yes i could get the memory to do its rated speed it was the pqi pc2 5400

i didnt play with the memory much though as it didnt seem to help much running the memory at a ratio higher than 1:1 and the 4-4-4-12 timings where enough to get me to order the ocz which is arriving later today :toast:

As far as I know the 925XE won't be released after all... it's because of the upcoming 945/955 release if I'm not mistaken. Got it from one who were on Cebit '05, but of course I can't confirm it...

Personally I'd hang in there until the 955 series and dual core chips. Shouldn't be too long. I have been itching to get a 600 series CPU but and going to wait it out... IMO going 925 now is kind of a waste of money.

keep what you have now and wait for the 955

No, at CeBIT they did say no 925XE-T2V.... But the 955 is VERY great and should be released soon.... Very soon...

How soon for the 955X? April? May? Hopefully not that long.

This 925X is artifically limiting my OC. I have my multi maxed out at 17x and can't get above 260FSB. I would like to drop the multi down to 12, 13, 14...somewhere where I can run the FSB high...I know my DDR2 can do it.

it is 2 gigs of ram... are you sure it can do it?
have you tried other ram to make sure thats not holding you back?

This is where DDR2 truly pWns DDR. 2 Gig kits barely have any effects on ocing (over 1gb kits) :cord:

One of DDR2's primary objectives was to increase density, hence its use in servers already, even at DDR2-400.

There is an ATI chipset for Socket 775 on the way that looks very promising, but I can't say anything beyond that at this point ;)
