View Full Version : Worst BH-5 ever?

I've had these two sticks of Kingston HyperX memory for about a year now and I peeked under the hood a few months ago and verified they were BH-5. I was pretty exitied until I tried testing them.

On an ABIT AV8 and MSI K8N Neo2 it tops out at 2-3-3-6 @ 216mhz with 3.6v. Lower voltage doesn't help. I'll have a DFI SLI-DR mobo to play with by the end of this week but I doubt things will change.

Anyone have some other tips like chuck the sticks into a roaring fire?

hmm...maybe...or unlucky with mobo controllers or it does 300mhz 2-2-2-5 at 4 volts :P ..nah..sounds like you might just be really unlucky

I have 2x512 KHX3000 BH-5 and it's total crap.
AN7@228 2-2-2-11->24/7
AV8@197 2-2-2-5(tight)->24/7
DFI NF4 U-D@225 2-2-2-5 (tightest)>24/7
volts above 3.2 doesn't help (good cooling). As u can see the mobo can make the deference for sure. AV8 is really a bad ΒΗ ocer so I advise u to try them on DFI before make up ur mind
(anyway ΒΗ are sensitive on test 8 (modulo 20) u should check that often).

That doesnt mean all KHX are crap. My PC3500 KHX with WE314 BH5's make 284mhz at 2-2-2-5-7

yeap this is true, it depends of the stick (IC)

Same sticks, same speeds on an ai7. doesn't matter what setting or latency, 225-230 MAX.

I've had around four different sets of KHX BH5. 2x512MB KHX3200 BH5, 2x256MB KHX3500 BH5, 2x256MB KHX3200 BH5, and most recently, 2x512MB KHX3500. All in chronological order. My first set was not a good clocker, but I sold the ram and the new owner said otherwise, so I think it was just that I was running them on an NF2, which aren't known to like double sided dimms. The next set, the KHX3500 did wonderfully in my Shuttle AN50-R, I had them up to 236MHz with the max allowable voltage, 2.9v. The KHX3200 I sold to my friend before I really got to stress them and his results were astonishing. That set could do 240MHz with 3.0volts. Very nice. And most recently, my 2x512MB set of KHX3500 did 260MHz 2-2-2-5 with 3.4volts. :)

All in all, I must say that from my experience, KHX BH5 has been some of the best BH5 you can find. :toast:

thats the exact same date of my 2X512 sticks and they will also hit that speed good stuff the 314s are :)

Have you tried them at 3.9 or 4v? I dont know if they dont like that high voltages or my DFI nF4 is not capable of it.

Deus Excalibur,

did you try with 1 stick only ? maybe one bad stick , the other's okay ?

Huh some kind of deffect. Like i have CH-5 that does eaven 260 2-2-2 with 3.6 v. But with no matter what mhz or v or timings they can only operate with 2T :(.
