Hi all, my first thread here on XS...

I've been playing with my 3000+ Newcastle for a couple of months now. Pifast below 50s was no problem after one afternoon of tweaking, but below 48s took me some time. So I reached a Pifast score of 46,36s. I was wondering if these are the highest clocks (or best Pifast score) at the moment for a Newcastle 3000+... I personally haven't seen a faster one :p:.

Here a screenshot:
http://www.tweakers.net/ext/i.dsp?FotoAlbumID=55002&format=full&ext=.jpg

Specs:
DFI LanpartyUT nF3-250GB (modded Jess1313 BIOS)
3000+ Newcastle... Duh :) (0443 IIRC)
G.Skill PC4800 @ 296MHz 2,5-3-3-7 1T 2,9V
Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu

Anyone has better results?

Already very happy with the result. I would love to reach 9 x 300 soon, but I'm not sure if that's doable.

No, it is not the fastest air-cooled 3000+(NC). Fastest I have seen for that chip on air is 2.9ghz

It is a nice OC you have there though. :)

This is mine, stock air, fastest on VR-Zone.

Air cooled 3000+ 754 Newcastle

These are both on pretty much untweaked OS's.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but here you will find a lot of better results.

How about A64 S754 2800+ @ 2.8GHz (http://www.clockmehigh.com/xtreme/rapra/SuperPiChallengeByRapra/2800MHz%20zapis.png) air-cooled as far as I remember - it belongs to one of the buddies of mine from other forums...

If 2800+ can go that far then 3000+ will most likely go even higher ;)

Good start anyway

scrible88, very nice on stock cooling. I used to have a barton 2500+ at 2.7ghz on stock air so I know how hard it is to get a good OC on stock air lol. What are you using to get such cold ambient temps? couple box fans duct taped to your case or something? lol :)

You prolly didn't do much research?
I've seen numerous 3000+ winnies doing 2.8-2.9GHz on air.

Nice chip nontheless. ;)

edit: just saw it was a Newcastle. :brick:

m8 some people get a bit better than you, ive seen a couple :)

but its good stuff nonetheless

Just the window open. :D

I haven't seen many 3000+ Newcastles that do more than 2700mhz on stock air. I'm hoping to slap one of Chilly1's single stage cascades on my chip and see what it can do. :p:

I've seen many Winnies hit these speeds on air but not many Newcastles! When I bought this chip I was disappointed because many people said it would probably only do 2300mhz if that. I sure was surprised with my results!

Don't think it is the best, but still very nice results.

Indeed :p:.

I based my thought mostly on the ranking of Ministry. There I couldn't find a faster one.

But damn, scrible88, that is one nice overclock on air cooling. What heatsink are you using?

There's still work for me I see

my newcastle 3000+ does 2800Mhz with a Venus 12 cooling (air).. iam trying to work out why your Pi score sucks so much :)

you should be in the 30's not 40's at those speeds!

I get 37 in Pi with 2500Mhz and ram running @ 227Mhz tho i have tighter timings and CPC on. (1T)

The stock heatsink/fan combo. :D

You mean SuperPI? I just ran the program, 34s is the result. Pifast results in a higher calculation time than SuperPI... Below a screenie; I haven't searched for the max stable with SuperPI though (I'm a bit tired).

I did just reach 9 x 297...

I will. My goal is to reach 9 x 300. I don't think my CPU likes much higher clocks, but I'll try my best :toast:.

I should try that @ 2900mhz. I think my system may be stable enough for that at those speeds. I'll have to wait for a cold day. What's the 16k PI aircooled Newcastle WR? I've never really looked into it but what is even a "good" score for 16k PI??
