actually - that's funny but true - 478 pin socket was quite a common for mobile p3's.
the cpu itself looks just like a banias :) well.. sorta.. most of them are brown, not green :p:
go to http://processorfinder.intel.com and look for mobile pentium III :)

i've got a mobile pIII in my computer, but it's locked cuz it's an oem board, so tell me how i got a lucky socket 370 that was mobile, and yes multipliers do allow you to go down, tha's how i know it's a mobile, tried it on my buddy's 370 mobo....

i see what you mean now, thanx look at the heat rating, i remember someone told me that no intel was spec'd past 85 degrees c, but this one is rated 100c holy ****

mobiles tend to have a higher heat threshold, same with amd mobiles. the 2600+axp-m i have has a max core temp of 105c i think, while the normal bartons were 85celcius max. personally, i've had it auto-shutdown (setoto 130c on the motherboard, core was probably hotter) on me cause the fan died, but its working great today
edit: they mean socket 479 (but the chips have 478 pins). physically, its the same as the socket you are probably familliar with (but in a low profile flavor), but elctrically, its very different. i wonder if you can use the ct-479 to run this on a p4 board. someone should try it
