Running my sig but the over all computer is slow..
i have 6559 int
6463 float
its at 2259 (250x9)
My Mobile 2500 at 2.6 seemed so much faster. (236x11)
Its runs everything fine but opening programs takes longer and so does closeing, also i get some mouse lag.
would it be worth selling this ram for 2x256 g.skill LA. Only temp until i have enough to get 1 gig of le, or should i leave the gig for games.
any suggestions?

You need to run more benchies.
Pifast
Super Pi
3DMark2001
Sandra Mem bandwidth. Just to name a few.
You can then compare your numbers with like systems.
have you checked your OS, Hard drive, drivers. etc...

I really hate to break it to you, but in many applications or benchmarks A64 @ 2259MHz **WILL NOT BE** much faster (if any at all) than XP-2500 @ 2600MHz.
Have you re-installed OS after you changed your setup?

I would agree totally a xp @ 2.6 is going to come close to a A64 @ 2.2 is some bench's.

Do you have a fresh WinXP install?

ive got a 3.8ghz p4 thats the same way, its a bit faster in benches but for some reason the good ole AXP just feel quicker... my XPM will do 2.7 though...
Can't you just overclock that CPU some more?
I recall the that i went A64 coming from a Barton @2,5GHz, i never looked back.

if youve got mouse lag there is something else going on, but still more mhz wouldnt hurt.

I know exactly what your saying and I have no clue how or why but my NF2 at 2.45 was very snappy and responsive. Scores aren't as high as they are on my NF4 but help up quite well for 2 year old business. I wish my system now at 2.6ghz felt as snappy as my last. Oh well 3dmark01 is much higher as is bandwidth by a long shot.

Umm.. go read some FAQs :dammit: And no, OPENING programs and MOVING the mouse doesn't have anything to do with processor performance. :ROTF:
Your benches suck? Well that's because the overclock sucks and apparently you don't even know how to set a ratio in the bios to get a higher o/c :cussing:
BTW, if you don't like your setup I'll trade it for an NF2 setup.

Can't clock higher due to RAM and multi 9?
Never heard of that.
Does the word divider ring a bell? :D

250MHz HTT may be the limit on that chip regardless of what memory dividers you use (possibly crap memory controller), only one way to find one...
I'm not sure what you expected, the only significant feature the Athlon64 has over the AXP is it's on-die memory controller (where the AXP was lacking against the P4) and of course 64bit O/S support, it's true potential is yet to be fully utilised. ;)

imo, you can 't feel the difference between a slow axp or p4, and an fx @ 3.3 ghz when just clicking through windows (not considering SMP system ofcourse). It's the other parts that make it feel slow, mainly the hard drive.
your problem sounds like a low level software problem, e.g. drivers, irq conflicts. Check those out.

AXP @ 2.6 will be faster in most stuff....
definitely not sandra, lol
