I was thinking about removing the ihs on my cpu, you guys think its worth it ?

Yeah, if you want bad contact just to gain a couple of degrees.

I've removed the heat spreader on every chip I've ever had :D
to sum it up, Little gain !
If your going to do nothing but bench with it then the gain is worth it, if not then leave things alone.

not worth the risk... i took the hs on my winnie and I killed it.. wish i had never done it... and from ppl who i know that were succesful the gains are not worth it.

Removing the IHS made a big difference for my 2.4C. Do it. Just be careful.

I tried on my 754 3000+ but it was hard as hell! How do you guys do it? I tried it with a thin knife.
Can you just lap it to get better contact? :D
