Hello all
All is in the title,
I just want to know what is the best memory for an FX-55 (with a DFI NF4 ULtra-D)
OCZ VX 4000 ????
G.SKILL PC4800 ????
Another ???
Thank you in advance :toast:
My vote goes for the OCZ VX 4000, or any kind of UTT really.

Yes that IS the question !!! lol
I'm running G.Skill TCCD right now, I've got some OCZ VX 4000 on the way. I think you would be ok with either really. The VX will have an advantage in memory bandwidth at the expense of running high Vdimm @ 3.5 or more. The TCCD will run at a cooler Vdimm and will give you a little more flexability in obtaining the max oc on your processor. SO YOU DECIDE ! lol

I know that the FX-55 has an unlocked multiplier
If i've got chance i could do that (with the VX 4000 @3.5v) :
275*11 @ 2.2.2.6
My PSU : OCZ Powerstream 600
My watercooling : "Kit ZERN" + Pumpstation Eheim 1048 - 1a-cooling (http://www.1a-cooling.de/shop/index-english.htm)
Not sure if you will hit 275, but more than likely with a good pair I'd say 265-270 with vx 4000.
Also make sure you have active cooling on the ram at these voltages. Just a 80mm fan over the dimms should be fine I'd think.

if you're shooting for over 260 then by all mean get the TCCD, I strongly doubt you can get 275 @2-2-2 with the VX, not that it can't be done but you'll have to be really lucky to hit 255~265 @2-2-2, like the OCZ rep said...if they could run their VX at 550 then they would of sell them as such, just don't be surprise if 250 is all you can get out of the VX @2-2-2 because that is the guaranteed speed. :D If I had the FX-55 I would definitely get either the Gskill LE or LA, more headroom to play with IMO. but it's your money, your call, worst case scenerio....if you don't like the VX you can always take the 15% hit (restocking fees) and RMA it, then try something else. ;)

My thoughts exactly, pretty much sums it up

I really don't know what to do  ...
Go for G.SKILL PC4800 (http://www.gskill.com/pc4800-pc3200-tccd-2-2-2-5-dc.html) ???
Definitively the best choice for FX-55 ??

In MY opinion:
TCCD for everyday use, low Vdimm and lots of fsb but at looser timings
UTT for benching, tight timmings but high Vdimm
In the end TCCD at 300mhz 2.5 4 3 7 = UTT at 270mhz 2 2 2 6

:D If You are looking for max Sandra membench You need high HTT 1:1 - take the TCCD (G.SKILL LA or A-DATA DDR-600) but if You're looking for best SuperPi take BH-5.

If I had the FX-55 and if I'm going to shoot for the range around 275~285(realistically), then I would get the PC4400 LE, if I want to hit a little bit above 300 then the GSKILL 4800 LA is the better choice, either way...you'll still need to tweak the memory setting properly if you want to get the most out of them and if 24/7 stability is on top of your priority. Ok I'll make it easier for you, get the 4800 LA! :D

With a good pair yes, because I saw many of PC4000 owners were disapointed by the results of this one, compared to PC3200 one. Maybe they have expected many more.
For me you should got some GBLA. I think 250 2-2-2-5 (and a little more) with high volts can handle 320 (maybe more?) 2.5-4-3 with low volts, for a 24/7 use.
Maybe I'm wrong let me know so...

Done with my good old CORSAIR BH-5, never got a better time with any kind of TCCD........
But never got a better bandwidth like that with TCCD:

Impressive !!! :slobber:
This is what I'm looking for :
- Extreme bandwidth
- High CPU frequency
- Stability !!
This new computer will be made for :
- gaming (with an X850XT PE)
- Benchmarking (of course :D )
- video encoding
- photoshop
I would make my choice tomorrow, but for the moment : G.Skill 4800 LA Wins :toast:
EDIT: HARDCORECLOCKER , what is your cooling system ???
If you want Bandwith, TCCD is what you need. If you want Low Latency. BH-5/UTT is what you want.
For games and everday use I say Low Latency wins, for Video encoding/photoshop you'll see more benefit from bandwith I think.
So in your case. TCCD.
HCC uses a MACH 2 GT for the CPU I believe.

I'd go OCZ VX 4000 if you arent worried about pumping high volts through your ram and are willing to take the risk that it won't hit the desired 275Mhz.
As for TCCD I would go with G.Skill 4400LE becuase of the guaranteed 1t command rate unless you can find the new PC 4800FF http://www.gskill.com/release-0503.htm

A bit off topic, but I have some new Gskill LA on sale for a super deal. See the for Sale section. The Gskill TCCD does very good on the DFI boards.

Yep, its another scrreeeaaaming deal from MDZCPA!
How is your VX doing Mike? Push it any further, or did they hit a wall at 265?

I got it as far as 272 but it took 3.5v to get there...which is a tad too high for my liking for 24/7 use. I settled on 265 2-2-2-8 at 3.3v :)

So it depends on what You are looking for........ :toast:
Now take that exact same setup and setting of the BH5, run the SuperPI 32M and 24hr Prime95 in blend test, then it won't be as hard as it seems again
:D :D :D
It can't be any easier than this, if you can afford FX-55, then you should be able to afford to get a couple of sticks to play with, in this case get both the VX and LA(or LE) and see whichever you like most, then sell the pair that failed to impress you. If getting both pairs isn't an option, your safest bet is still on the TCCD. :toast:

I'd go for the vx4000, you'll at least get 265mhz with 3.6v out of them I'm sure.

To do what I have describe higher, (gaming, encoding, benchmarking :D ....)
It's definitely better to get G.Skill LA ???
I can go for it ?
I will not regret that choice ?
Or it could be better to wait for their FF (http://www.gskill.com/release-0503.htm) modules ?
Excuse me for all these questions ... ;)
And thank you for your help

Last question :
Onepagebook (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/member.php?u=5799) tolds me that the best would be the "LE (http://www.gskill.com/pc4400-2.5-3-3-7-pc3200-tccd-2-2-2-5-dc.html) " G.skill module.
If I understand well, "LE (http://www.gskill.com/pc4400-2.5-3-3-7-pc3200-tccd-2-2-2-5-dc.html) " module would be the best choice than "LA (http://www.gskill.com/pc4800-pc3200-tccd-2-2-2-5-dc.html)" because is rated at 1t.
But "LE (http://www.gskill.com/pc4400-2.5-3-3-7-pc3200-tccd-2-2-2-5-dc.html) " is @ PC4400 whereas "LA (http://www.gskill.com/pc4800-pc3200-tccd-2-2-2-5-dc.html)" is @ PC4800
Could I obtain the same FSB (300 ou a little more) with this module  ??
(and if possible, with which timmings ?)

:D Send a PM to OPB - I only know G.SKILL LA 512 is rated 2T but 256 is 1T.
But don't know much about the LE - doesn't matter for me because I always use the better benchable 256 modules.
